Leonardo DiCaprio stars in this high-charged tale of survival, based on the popular novel by Alex Garland. He portrays Richard, a traveling American who wants nothing more than to experience life completely. The Beach (DVD, 2005)
This movie is basically about a young twenty who goes away on a trip to Thailand by himself, because he wants to forget his past. There he meets a loony (Robert Carlyle) who gives him a map to a secret paradise. He asks two strangers, Françoise (Virginie Ledoyen and Etienne (Guillaume Canet) to come and join them. After they have found the island they meet an alternative group who lives there and they join them, but after a while problems evolve. This is the plain story-line of the movie, but there is so much more to it, it has a message and that really is what fascinated me a lot in the beginning and at the end. There was a good story there, but the way it was brought over, never really losing the actual message out of sight. Now believe me the direction, the soundtrack and the cast are ... To Enter the Dream and Come Back Again
So many unexpected events. Very engaging characters from so quiet to those who are so forward they say something that's so unbelieveable. There is many ups & downs and some of the scenery is very beautiful. I would watch it again & again.

Leo DiCaprio is awesome as ever. One of my favorite actors. Have many of his movies. This movie is one his best. Thank you.

Psychological movie disguised in a teen summer flick
At face value, this is a fun, cute, unique summer flick that's still worth watching. But under the surface, this film probes the individual and collective psyche of social microcosms and the degeneration of man and society into base instincts.

THIS IS A MOVIE, FROM THE EARLY 2000'S. IT IS ABOUT A YOUNG GUY, ON VACATION, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD. HE IS IN A STRANGE COUNTRY. AND HE MEETS SOME STRANGE PEOPLE, THERE. AND THEN SOME REALLY STRANGE THINGS HAPPEN, TO HIM AND THE OTHER PEOPLE, TOO. IT IS KIND OF DARK AND SUSPENCEFUL. THANK YOU.
