  • Keep a box of kleanex nearby + your wallet. Sad truth.

This is the sort of documentary that rocks your core, and makes you feel that even in the most helpless of situations you might be of some help. It made me ill to see the plight of dolphins and whales in Japan. What a sick sick society. Intentionally cruel to the dolphins in their coastal waters. It is a plight that may not have immediate consequences to the people of Japan, but the long term effects to the Japanese and the planet as a whole is absolutely devastating. It's gut wrenchingly sad. If you're going to donate any money to charity this year, consider this fight a good one and give money to either bluevoice dot org or get involved at takepart dot com / the cove. The killing of these dolphins seems so senseless, it is time we take action. Watch the film, you should know the ...

  • Very Good, But One-Sided

The Cove won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. So what better time to review it on DVD? The Cove is one of those special films that comes along every once in a while and asks some hard questions about human attitudes and hopes to make a positive change in the world, being part exposé and part polemic. The Japan government and fisheries authority is the equivalent to a comic book villain in the eyes of the Oceanic Preservation Society and other such organisations. They cause a lot of head shaking and outrage with their continued whaling activities. The Cove’s filmmakers are openly dismayed at Japan’s continued denials, subterfuge and hunting of precious sea life. In one scene, a Brazilian scientist at the International Whaling Commission, upon listening to the country’s proposals to ...

  • The Cove

The Cove is an in depth look at a dolphin slaughter that only people is this small village in Japan know about. People in Tokyo are not even aware of this slaughter that has gone on for quite sometime. A former Flipper trainer turned dolphin activist uses undercover cameras and a team of people to uncover this killing that take place in Taiji Japan. Even if your not a fan of documentaries, you will enjoy this movie. It won the oscar in 2009 for Best Documentary. It will make you think twice the next time you go visit a Sea World park about how they got there animals. Highly recommend!

  • The contents is significant and timely, especially with our ignorance of the natural resources. I consider it important enough for the collection.

The brand new DVD arrived in an acceptable condition. The contents of the DVD was something I had been wanting for a decade and I finally found it AFTER I saw it on a streaming channel. I purchased the DVD to keep in my library collection.

  • The Cove

Best documentary I've ever seen. It was like 5 movies in one. There was a story of redemption for the trainer turned activist, a clandestine mission to recon and then place the cameras and listening devices, an environmental doc about dolphins, a doc about Japan's whaling program and a health/safety doc about the effects and causes of mercury on humans. The movie also dabbles in causes for autism but don't let that turn you off of the superb movie. Well worth your time. A+
