Product Information

Steel yourselves - Nanny Ogg is passing on some of her most interesting recipes and her most refined wisdom. 'Probably the best and certainly the tastiest of the Discworld spin-offs' - The Times 'They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach which just goes to show they're as confused about anatomy as they gen'rally are about everything else, unless they're talking about instructions on how to stab him, in which case a better way is up and under the ribcage.' Nanny Ogg Nanny Ogg , one of Discworld's most famous witches, is passing on some of her huge collection of tasty and above all interesting recipes . But in addition to the delights of the 'Strawberry Wobbler' and 'Nobby's Mum's Distressed Pudding', Mrs Ogg imparts her thoughts on social etiquette , life, death, courtship, children and weddings, all in a refined style that should not offend the most delicate of sensibilities. Well, not much... Jam-packed with recipes favoured (or not!) by the great and good of the Discworld, full of Nanny Ogg's unique wisdom and way with words, and peppered with apoplectic notes from the editor and the publisher, this is a treasure trove of literary, culinary and comic delights. A must- purchase for any fan of the legendary Sir Terry Pratchett. *Most of the recipes have been tried out on people who are still alive. __________________________________________________________________ What fans are saying... • FUN and FUNNY for Kids and Somewhat Sane Adults!! PLAY with Your Food!!!!

Once one sees that one can actually make AND eat a Nanny Ogg Sheep Eyeball or three, one must then try NOT to laugh while sampling the next course (or coarse, depending upon one's reaction to the Table settings). CAUTION: Do NOT eat and read at the same time. One can always trust in the earthy wisdom of Good Olde Nanny Ogg to brighten and enlighten an otherwise listless lunch or strangely enhance a Tender Evening of Romance... The recipes actually work, but, should appearances count, then perhaps a Halloween Dinner would be a good starting place for using this particular cookbook. That way, The Rat on a Stick, along with the wiggling Strawberry Shamble, will fit right in and taste very good! Terry Pratchett (speaking for Nanny Ogg) gets away with another hysterical take on ...

  • It serves up discworld

This book is amusing on it's own and a complement to the discworld cannon. I particularly like the interactions with the publisher. Note the actual recipes are very British and lean towards fish, mushrooms and curry.

  • Nanny Ogg: Most Practical Woman on the Panet, or Vixen?

This book is not for the faint of heart, but it is for those who want to laugh. Alot. Like all of Prachett's work it is clever and fun, with some satyre thrown in. Also, the recipies actually sound edible. I haven't tried one yet, but fully intent to in the near future. Good read, great pictures!

  • Wonderful gift

  • Excellent Book!

This book arrived in excellent condition. The drawings by Paul Kidby are beautiful and Pratchett's writing remains witty and up-to-date. I believe it is an absolute must-have for any collector and reader of the Discworld series.
