Romancin the 60's- Frankie Valli CD 2006.
This is Frankie valli's first solo album for quite some time.Like years!By the name of the cd it is obvious that he is giving his interpretation of some great 60's standards amd generally it works well. When you hear that he tackles songs such as "Spanish harlem", "Sunny","My Cherie Amour","Let it be me", and a great version of "On Broadway" featuring the Jersey boys who are honoury Four seasons for this recording only, you will know what to expect. I was really dissapointed by this CD: Frankie's voice is so slight in comparison with the robust vigor of earlier works. And, why not? After all, he was in his late 70's when he made this latest oevre. I guess it is difficult for all of us to accept the limitations age forces. I was not thrilled with the orchestral arrangements either: very Frank Sinatra wannabee. Nor did I like the voice/orchestra balance. Most of the time, the fragile voice, which (aside from its frailness) was entirely within the Italian tradition of bell canto (think of the elderly Corado on "The Sopranos"), seemed overwhelmed by the big instramental arrangements. Then, the voice would be volumed up to seem almost artificial. The choice of songs was poor as well: A mistake was made in ... If you must have something new, download the My Girl medly: its the only cut on the whole disc that has an authentic feel.

The guy can sing anything. A different side of Valli, that you can enjoy. Shows his vocal range.

I LOVE Frankie Valli and was so excited when I found this CD on eBay! It was brand new and a great price so I purchased it right away. What a great CD! How fun to hear his take on wonderful songs from the 60's that he didn't originally sing. With songs like My Cherie Amour, What a Wonderful World, and This Guy's in Love with You, you can imagine just how incredible this CD is. And how fun for him to sing On Broadway with The Jersey Boys! If you're a fan of Frankie Valli solo or with The Four Seasons, you will absolutely love this CD.I LOVE Frankie Valli and was so excited when I found this CD on eBay!
