A Kiss of shadows by Laurell K. Hamilton (2000)
This is another great book from Hamilton. I have read all the Anita Blake vampire hunter series and love it! This one has a different protagonist but just as feisty as Anita. This centers around the world of "Fae" Royalty. Interesting plot, some body-count, paranormal overtones, and a lot of sexual stuff. This seems to be a "softer" book than the Anita Blake series, this may appeal to some. I like the tough edginess of her other series but have the benefit of having read the whole other series and have not read past book #1 of the Gentry series. It is a good contrast; change. Merry Gentry is a Very Feisty Leading Lady! This is a wonderful world that Laurell Hamilton has Created around Fae Royalty. This is the first book in the Meredith { Merry} Gentry Series. This book is Action Packed with lots of Mystery and Super Hot Sexy. This series is the Story of the Fae Princess Merry. I really Enjoyed this Book! I was a little worried at first....I mean really Fairy's??? I am very Surprised....I am Addicted..I am starting the second book tonight! I am so glad I gave this book a try! I highly Recommend A kiss of Shadows if you like Paranormal Romance & Fantasy you will love it! Warning... Explicit Sex! My favorite fantasy book.
This book is the first in the Laurell K. Hamilton series centered around Merry Gentry. If you are looking for a wonderfully different adult fairy fantasy, this is the ONE I recommend. I love this series so much, I decided to buy this signed first edition for my birthday present to myself :-) Yes, I know the criticism of the book series (too much sex), but hey, these are fairies and they have no guilt about sex. Although I also like Ms Hamilton's vampire series, this is by far my favorite. The images are evocative of a whole new world in which fairies are part of modern-day society in the United States.This book is the first in the Laurell K. love Laurell K. Hamilton
I really like the Merry Gentry series..Laurell at her best. I like the way the fantastical is made to seem mundane. There is just the right amount of "naughty", danger and intrigue. I bought this book in hardcover to round out my hardcover L.K. Hamilton collection. I now have everything she has written so far in hardback...and haven't ever been too in the story lines of her books, I'm always saddened at the end of the books because I feel that my friends have left on vacation without me...and I always eagerly wait for the next book in whatever series she writes.I really like the Merry Gentry series..Laurell at her best. Steamy Magic
This is the first in the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton and it is an excellent read. Full of suspense, action, and plots on the protagonist's life. You'll enjoy not only the parallel world in this book, but you'll fall in love with the exotic characters of the Fey. It really is a farie tale meets an action movie. A few steamy scenes and a lot of fighting and internal politics. If you like a twisting plot that keeps going, you'll enjoy this book.This is the first in the Merry Gentry series by Laurell K.
