Long and boring with little resemblance to the original saga.
This is the first of the two books that comprise the conclusion to the Dune saga, the other being Sandworms of Dune. These two were based on the notes for Dune 7 written by Frank Herbert and discovered many years after his death. Overall, this is pretty poor and really has nothing much to do with the original Dune at all. It's long and boring and only starts to get really interesting towards the end. It almost demands that you read Sandworms after this. To add insult to injury, at the end there is an interview where the authors admit that Frank Herbert's notes were less than 3 pages... and they made two 500 page books out of it?This is the first of the two books that comprise the conclusion to the Dune saga, the other being Sandworms of Dune.
