  • Firestarter Two-Movie Collection (DVD, 2004)

Pretty good horror-story genre movie about a little girl who has the ability to start fires and burn up things with her mind when she is really p---ed off! Drew Barrymore is excellent as the "evil" little girl and does a good acting job in this cult flick. However, Firestarter II, leaves a lot to be desired. The storyline is different and instead of getting Drew to play the lead again, she was replaced. In my opinion, this alone destroyed the credibility of the film. If you can't count on the same actors for your sequel, don't do it. The film was OK, but hard to maintain interest and continuity. The four stars is for the original film, but the second one to me was only a three.

  • Firestarter Two-Movie Collection

David Keith & Drew Barrymore star in this thriller about a child (Barrymore) who has the amazing ability to create fires just by staring at anyone or anything, her father who also has the ability make people do what he wants. A secret government agency known as "The Shop" led by Martin Sheen & George C. Scott plot to kidnap the duo for testing their abilities. The directing is very good, the cinematography (especially the effects) is excellent, and the movie is, as a whole entertaining.

  • Well worth the price of purchase.

For a long time the original Firestarter movie was out of print on DVD and commanded big bucks if you could even find one. I had it in VHS and it is an excellent movie. Drew Barrymore was always great as a child actress. I had never seen the Firestarter 2 movie until I purchased Firestarter 1 and 2 on DVD. When the DVD arrived I watched Firestarter and then Firestarter 2 and both are good movies and well worth the price of the DVD. The Firestarter 2 movie is good but they used another actress to play the grown up Drew Barrymore. The problem I had with watching the two movies in close sequence was that the second movie used the same characters' names but the flashbacks were different scenes from those in the original Firestarter movie. It was all a bit confusing. It would have been ...

  • What was he thinking?

Firestarter ONE was fantastic! No doubt it was top shelf, give it gold. But WHAT ON EARTH happened with number two? First, (HATE IT when they do this!) they replaced a natural blonde with an obviously natural brunette. If Samuel L Jackson is in part one, his role will NOT be played well in part two by Tim Conway! Do it right, or not at all! Then, they couldn't even do flashbacks right, they very poorly rewrote part one for flashbacks. The storyine was stupid, everything about it was dreadful, it was without doubt the worst thing he's ever done. He told me once that it would be hard to do part two, with puberty and all, but I figured he could have done better than that! If you had never seen part one and only saw part two, it would still be wretched. It didn't even work independantly. If ...

  • Firestarter Two-Movie

McGee doesn't want to set the world on fire but, with increasing frequency, she does. Sometimes something just comes over her, and what she wills in her mind actually happens. Once, standing in an airport lobby, she sees a young soldier telling his pregnant, tearful girlfriend that he doesn't want to settle down yet. Charlie gets carried away, and the soldier's shoes miraculously burst into flame. Firestarter, this month's screen adaptation of a Stephen King novel, is a good, stylish mixture of the kind of hokey horror and science-fiction elements in which Mr. King specializes. It has a first-rate cast headed by the small, extremely self-assured Drew Barrymore (''E. T.''), who plays Charlie, supported by David Keith, who appears as her troubled dad, and George C. Scott, wearing a graying ...
