Product Information

Killed along with his fiancé Jessie (Laura Vandervoort) in a nightclub suicide bombing, American journalist Matt Ellman (Tahmoh Penikett) washes ashore in new world populated by everyone who has ever died on Earth in this fantasy miniseries adapted from the books by author Philip Jose Farmer. Now, in this strange new land, Matt's only goal is to find the woman he loves, and spend eternity with her. Along the way, the befuddled wanderer climbs aboard a riverboat piloted by celebrated American author Mark Twain (Mark Deklin), and joins forces with a fierce female warrior named Tomoe (Jeananne Goossen), who hails from the 13th Century. The further the group travels up the massive river they emerged from, the more apparent it becomes that an extraterrestrial entity is tracking their every move.

    Where's the ending?

    I read the Riverworld books years ago, and wished to see how it would be represented in flim. It was also so long since I read the books I could only remember pieces. The basic concept and ideas all there, the special effects fine, acting good, thought provoking and you wait to see when the author is going to take you on sci-fi journey. But it is obvious they just ran out of time or money because you are left without dangling in mid air not knowing the outcome, why, the important of or who any of them are. Very frustrating. It says based on the literary series, it doesn't say based on part one of the series, I will have to find the books to read again.

    It will leave you scratching your head wondering what happened.

    Very strange show where there is NO conclusion. It leaves you wondering what was going on with no finale or explanation to the whole scenario. It could have been a great show but I guess the writers didn't get it right.

    LOVE this movie!

    I used to have this movie until somebody borrowed it & kept it. I finally found it again & ordered it. I am so happy to have it again. It arrived quickly & in excellent condition, so I’m quite happy. I only wish they’d make another movie, I was left with unanswered questions. I highly recommend this movie to people who like both a good plot & action that are not dependent on sex! The characters are interesting & engaging. Great movie!

    Hard to understand at first.

    After getting into the plot of the movie, it became evident what was taking place. I didn't read the series of books it was based on, but it was very interesting to watch and raised some questions about life and death. Is there a waiting place called "Purgatory", before getting into heaven?

    this is the worst movie ever....makes "Plan 9 from Outer Space" look like a Shakespeare play..no acting, plot, or story..if they could put in cuts from the 3 stooges it could been at least funny
