THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW premiered in 1960 and quickly charmed its way into the hearts of audiences with one of the most beloved television fathers of all time. Set in the fictitious environs of Mayberry, North Carolina, the series chronicled daily life in the peaceful Southern hamlet through the gently humorous eyes of town sheriff Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith). A widower raising his young son Opie (a pre-HAPPY DAYS Ron Howard) with the help of his live-in spinster aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), Andy capably navigated single parenthood with the same goodhearted wisdom that he brought to his law enforcement duties--that is, when he wasn't being hampered by the fidgety, bug-eyed antics of his bungling deputy sheriff Barney Fife (Don Knotts). A wholesome throwback to a simpler time, this collection includes all 31 episodes of the series' second season, which garnered Knotts the first of five Emmys and includes fan-favorites such as "The Pickle Story," "Barney and the Choir," and "Andy on Trail."

    great stuff!

    season 2 great stuff. right in the heyday of this show. love it! Barbara Eden as the "manecurist" is a thing to behold! Barney and Floyd are priceless. Opie is the best young actor i have ever seen. never get tired of this show. cheap at any price.

    Awesome DVD's. Worth money. Best of Andy's. Complete.

    I LOVE this second season DVD set. I own this and it is worth every penny we paid for it(you can get season DVD's usually for about a total of $30 if you shop around on eBay.) If you think about it, this actually isn't expensive at all. It is $1-2 per episode, which is well worth it as these hold their value and are very organized. We used to have piles of video tapes and replaced them with this DVD set and the others, and we LOVE it. We can easily find episodes and scenes that we want. We can find something that we want to see in a minute or less. Don Knotts uses his hilarious skills during this season and you will not stop laughing!! Between Barney's funny comments and actions, and Andy's calm, cool personality, the contrast make what I think is the funniest show in the history of ...

    One of the best

    The Andy Griffith Show takes us back to a better time. Watching the show makes our hearts feel lighter, and seems to temporarily relieve the stress of daily life. If only the programs today were as wholesome and whimsical as the old shows, things would at least seem better. If we could be like the characters in this show, the world would be a better place to live.

    If you loved the Andy Griffith television show or can appreciate good old fashion television shows back when there was decentcy, morals and standards compaired to what's on T.V. today, then this set is for you. I bought this set for my Wife because it was one of the things that was on her Christmas list and we both just love the show. We like to watch programs like this to remenise in the good old days gone by. It's truely comicable with a southern hospitality flair.
