Denver to San Francisco in 15 Hours
From Colorado to California in just 15 hours...by car. I bought this DVD because I remember the movie as a favorite from my high school years. In addition to being a great "period piece" exploring the crazy world of the 1970's, car buffs like it because it is a expertly choreographed 90 minute car chase featuring one of the 70's true muscle car icons, the 440 Dodge Challenger R/T. Watching a V12 E-Type Jag go somersaulting end over end into a shallow river is pretty cool, too. Although a bit disturbing for youngsters, the chilling ending is still classic even by today's standards. The film is a little dated when you watch it now, but then unknown Barry Newman's edgy performance as the amphetamine fueled Kowalski remains fresh and definitely a notch above ... The only part that leaves something to be desired is the beginning. It starts out slow and disjointed and never really explains why Kowalski undertakes such a seemingly impossible challenge and accepts the bet to drive from Denver to San Francisco in just 15 hours to avoid paying his drug supplier for his latest score.

Car chase classic
Love this movie. Saw it in the theater in ‘71. Been watching some of the older movies lately and thought I had this on dvd but didn’t so I bought this one. The quality was good but I think it was a copy from an original. No graphics on the dvd and when you put it in the player it went right to the movie with no menu or disclaimers which was no big deal.

Vanishing Point, what's the point?
First of all, if you are a gearhead in any way, shape, or form, especially a Mopar Gearhead, then this movie is a must have. I can't believe that I personally haven't seen this movie before now. I have heard of it for years, as a matter of fact I saw a movie last year, I believe it was called "Death Proof", that makes a major reference to this movie, even to the point of getting a Challenger just like the one in this movie and taking it for a crazy joy ride, but that is an other story all of its own. Vanishing point is about, Kowalski, played by Barry Newman, who is currently a car courier who's latest job is to deliver a 1970 supercharged Dodge Challenger from Denver, CO to San Francisco, CA, by Monday, but his goal is to deliver it by Sunday, so he is in a bit ... First of all, if you are a gearhead in any way, shape, or form, especially a Mopar Gearhead, then this movie is a must have. I can't believe that I personally haven't seen this movie before now. I have heard of it for years, as a matter of fact I saw a movie last year, I believe it was called "Death Proof", that makes a major reference to this movie, even to the point of getting a Challenger just like the one in this movie and taking it for a crazy joy ride, but that is an other story all of its own. Vanishing point is about, Kowalski, played by Barry Newman, who is currently a car courier who's latest job is to deliver a 1970 supercharged Dodge Challenger from Denver, CO to San Francisco, CA, by Monday, but his goal is to deliver it by Sunday, so he is in a bit of a hurry. The majority of the movie is all about following Kowalski and this beautiful Hotrod across the country side. However, there are brief flash backs to the past of Kowalski's life, so we get a better understanding of who he is and where he comes from. Based on the hurry he is in, along his journey, he attracts a nice following of law enforcement personnel, who are bound and determined to get him to pull over, which of course he has no intentions on doing, because that would just slow him down. He certainly meets some interesting characters along his way too, some help him out to great benefit, while a few others attempt to cause serious havoc to his current agenda. None the less, he consistently sticks to his main mission and that is taking this amazing car West for delivery on time. One side note, to all of you Guns N' Roses fans, if you have ever wondered where Axl Rose comes up with the end of the song, "Breakdown", you owe it to yourself to watch this movie, if for no other reason, to figure that out. Grant it, this movie was filmed in the early 70's, so there are not any fancy special effects like you would see in a modern day block buster, but I think if you want to watch a fantastic car chasing type movie, this is one you don't want to miss. This Mopar sounds awesome through out the flick, and it was so worth the price I paid for it. Don't miss Vanishing Point! The end was a bit disappointing, but that still wouldn't stop me from purchasing this movie. I'm sure I'll watch it multiple times, if for no other reason, to enjoy that fantastic car roaring across the country side.

One of the Best Movies, Ever.
A cult classic. The auto industry gives cars to Hollywood. In appreciation, Hollywood made this movie about a car. To win a bet, a professional car drove cross country with police not far behind. I don't want to say more. You will agree that Vanishing Point should be awarded with a blue ribbon. You are incomplete after watching Vanishing Point. Tarrence Tarintino, the director of "Kill Bill" made a movie that evolves Curt Russell. That movie is called "Death Proof." It features the exact same car as Vanishing Point. Not to give anything away, but Vanishing Point actually has two endings. While Vanishing Point stands tall, alone, the big picture is not revealed unless you watch both of these movies. If you like driving, this is the movie for you.

Vanishing Point
One of the best old school chase movies ever filmed. Barry Newman is great as the speed loving driver. Other than a few cuss words and brief nudity, this shouldn't be rated R. I love it so much, this is my 3rd copy. Great car chases throughout and never leaves you bored!! AAAAA+++++
