Product Information

KOEI's action-oriented spin-off of its historical strategy game series, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, continues on PlayStation 2 with Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires. Players are once again charged with the task of building an empire by conquering 25 areas of ancient China through hands-on combat against armies under the command of legendary generals. Yet before players cut a swath through the opposing forces, they must first engage in a turn-based strategy phase. Here players decide which of the game's 75 policies to implement in the areas of diplomacy, product development, government, military, and more. <br><br>Each policy influences subsequent battles in specific ways, such as being able to fight with reinforcements or to cause an enemy officer to defect. On the battlefield, the action takes place from a third-person perspective as players initiate a variety of melee, projectile, and magic-based attacks, to defeat as many individual units as possible in order to conquer the contested region. New to this installment is the ability to issue direct orders or general commands to officers, offering a greater level of strategic control during combat. Players can also team up with a friend for some cooperative action, as well as learn more about the real-life battles depicted in the game with the encyclopedia option.

    Awesome Game!

    This game takes the awsome fighting of the Dynasty Warriors games and mixes it with the strategic taking of land that the Romance of The Three Kingdoms brings. You can fight your way and win the land territory by territory or you can attack the territory with that nations leader to take control of that whole nation until all of China is in your hands. You fight your way through all the scenarios that the three kingdoms era brings from the yellow turban rebellion to the fall of the kingdoms. Another great feature is if you own Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends the characters that you created automatically get downloaded into the game. Overall this is an amazing game and will be love by anyone that owns it.

    Pretty good game

    Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires is pretty fun. If you've never played a DW game, this might be a good one to start. If you've played them before, then expect more of the same really. This game does improve over the 4th empires game however, as it adds new features like tactics, that can really make a difference on the higher difficulty settings. It also adds more strategy, as every officer under your command can't be picked whenever you're attacking/defending. They have to be in said territory, or in the one next to it. So if you only have the generic officers, or very few officers overall, you might find yourself in trouble. Good game overall, I bought it because I am a fan. If you aren't, then you should consider renting it first or something. If you liked the other ones and aren't ...

    Getting there...

    If you enjoy action with a touch of strategy, this is the game for you. It is not necessarially challenging on the strategy end of the game, but improved over Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires by allowing more direct control over the options available during the non-fighting stages. As you decide on policies (supporting the people or dictating them), more powerful and effective options are made available as the game continues based on being a "good" or "evil" leader. As far as the action goes, there are many officers to choose from and the game play is very open. This is a kind of game that will never be played the same way twice.

    Dynasty Warriors games are the best

    This game was already owned once by my family-they loved it so much I had to replece it when it stopped working. The Dynasty Warriors collection of games are #1 in my families book. We have owned every game for every system...not only loved by my two boys and husband but my daughter and I have also fallen victim to its allure. She and I love to max out the female characters!I am 38 years old and love Dynasty Warriors!!!
