Bob and Bing and Dotty - What else is there to say?
I love these movies. Always have since I was a kid. These were made before I was born in '52 but I got to see them on TV throughout the following decades. The team of best friends could not have been better. They seemed to know what each was thinking and responded to each other when they would adlib (which was often in these movies) and it was and is amazing. The timing is flawless. Hope was a genius having perfected his art in vaudeville and radio. Crosby was a great performer and actor. Smooth, relaxed, confident. Each perfectly suited to their roles. Dorothy also perfect. Her playful playing off each man was beautiful to watch. These people were not short-timers like actors today. Today it's what you look like not your talent (see any model turned actress or some teenage hottie dressed ... I love these movies. Always have since I was a kid. It was hinted at for a joke. They didn't hit you over the head with it like they do today. These movies don't only have sight gags but the writing is perfect. The genius of great comedy was and is the writing. Watch any really good TV comedy show and close your eyes and just listen (Everybody Loves Raymond is my favorite). You will break up laughing without seeing. These movies have that quality. I know that sounds crazy since these movies were made to be watched obviously, but just listen to them. It's radio. The writing is so great that you don't need the sight gags to laugh yourself to tears. The jokes come fast and furious and you won't get them all unless you listen very carefully and most likely you'll have to watch them several times to catch all the jokes. Thank God for all these DVD's. I can now have my own marathon of Bob and Bing and Dotty!

On the Road with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby collection.
This collection contains four of the "On The Road series" by Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. If you have enjoyed any of the films in this series, you will be happy with all four of these movies. I already owned two not included in this set and together I almost complete the collection. Fun to watch at a very reasonable price.

Legendary entertainers . .
Hope & Crosby teamed up for several "Road" themed films, ( I think there are 7) and although the premise in each is very similar ( 2 guys wind up helping a Gal out of a bad situation) the simplistic nature of the buddy comedy just cracks you up, its pure comedy, ( before comedy began to rely FAR too heavily on Cursing ) simple stories, easy to follow and laugh at, often the characters break the 4th wall barrier and speak directly to the audience. . It is just good old fashioned funny with 2 actors that set the bar pretty high in their profession & are still considered heavy influences on comedy actors to present day. The plots arent elaborate, the special effects are obviously a bit corny, ( remeber these were made WAY before special effects began to be developed ) and the action is ... Hope & Bing and Dorothy too.
I've been looking for these "on the road" pics for some time. Bob Hope was a seriously funny man. A great ad slobber. Crosby was known more for his singing and dancing. These 2 together...and with Dorothy Lamour!!! Funny stuff in my opinion. I believe there is one more "road picture" not included in this pack. So I'll have to get it separate later. Good MOSTLY clean humor. I seriously loved Bob Hope. He was known to be a really good guy...like Tom Hanks. Bob entertained the troops overseas a lot. Out of his own time and money. He always got some other entertainers to do it for free too. He was happily married to the same woman for many years. He had his own tv show also. Two Great Icons at their Best
Have always loved the Crosby-Hope Road Pictures. All the inside jokes, adlibs, and all around insanity is what made these movies the classics that they are. Let's not forget the icing on the cake...Dorothy Lamour.
