Best SKS scope mount I've used yet!
Finally a quality scope mount for the SKS. Installation was fairly easy. One hint on installation: Use the quick release pin to secure the rear of the mount to the retriever before you tap in the front pin. Makes life easier. I used the supplied nut and bolt to secure the rear of the mount for a trip to the range. Mount was rock solid and I could tell the difference between this mount and other types when I was zeroing my 3x9 scope. Constant, repeatable, groups. And I enjoyed the looks it got at the range from the other shooters! If you have a good SKS and want to mount a scope without drilling the receiver, this is the way to go.Finally a quality scope mount for the SKS. Installation was fairly easy. Best platform for the SKS
Quality material with a Solid mounting design. I love the rigidity of the entire conversion. Relatively easy to install, and fits real snug. Can wait to run it with my new optic. I have absolutely no doubts this thing is going to hold zero, even from dropping the rifle.

The best scope rail for an SKS
This rail will require a little work to install, but it is well worth the trouble. You won't ever have to worry about your scope going off zero when you shoot the gun ever again. The only negative is that it is very difficult to use the stripper clips. However, that is easily solved by going to after market "duck bill" removable mags. Tapco has the best.

Not great, didn't work for me - a full must read review
I've owned several SKS rifles over the years as I have found them to be durable, reliable and reasonably accurate but like all other SKS owners, the main complaint is that there really isn't a good way to put an optic on them that will reliably hold zero. The Magwedge SKS Rail looked good on paper because it is easy to install with only a few tools needed and only minor modification to your rifle. However after several tries, it DOES NOT hold zero, the front pin does not stay in place as it wiggles itself out and the rear screw does not stay tight and loosens after just a few rounds. I tried both the Chicago Screw and the hitch pin, neither of which holds the rear of the rail in place. Below are the steps used to install - This rail system might work for you, it didn't for me. Photo 1 ... Photo 1 shows the notches I had to cut into the stock to account for the bottom of the rail to fit over the rear dust cover and line up with the dust cover holes. I was a little reluctant to cut into the stock but if you have a good sharp exacto knife and go slow, you can make this fit just right. Be advised that you will need a Dremel and a file to file off the notch on the old dust cover peg to get it out. Photo 2 shows how the back of the rail fits over the rear dust cover. Note that the right side looks a little higher than the left side, but that isn't the rail, that is because the stock is not level - a lot of these SKS stocks were worked by hand in manufacturing so they won't be level. Also note that there is a little gap between the edge of the dust cover and the rail that, unfortunately, lets the rear of the rail move slightly side to side - short range, not a problem, long range, that's potentially going to be a problem if it gets worse over time. Also, note that I put a lock washer (not provided) on the screw on the right side so that it won't wiggle loose. The Magwedge kit allows for 2 different ways to secure the rear of the rail: option 1 is a "Hitch Pin" (Shown in photo 3) that I tried but it seemed to allow for the rear of the rail to move around more and option 2 is a hex head Chicago screw as seen in the other photos. I chose to use the Chicago screw as it seems to hold the rail in place better - however after use, neither option worked for me. It seems that the rear of the rail could be narrowed a bit by using a vise to make it fit tighter but I'm going to wait and see on that - I'd rather not do that. Photo 3 Keep in mind that I installed this on a Norinco SKS Sporter that takes AK mags from the factory so this is not a stripper clip reload gun so I'm assuming that the Hitch Pin is to be used for the regular SKS that requires a stripper clip reload so the pin can be pulled out and replaced more easily than the Chicago screw. NOTE: DO NOT over tighten the hex head Chicago Screws, they will strip pretty easily and you'll have to drill them out. Magwedge does make a rail that accounts for the stripper clip reload where a portion of the rail is removeable for reload but I don't have any experience with it. Photo 4 shows where the front of the rail attaches to the rifle - the kit does provide a pin to put in place to hold the rail - please note that you will need to remove the rear sight to secure the front of the rail. FYI, there are numerous videos on YouTube that show you how to remove the rear sight and there are a few videos that show you how to install the Magwedge rail - I would recommend watching them BEFORE you start this process. Photo 5 shows a "V" mark left on the bottom of the rail after 100 rounds ejecting out of the chamber. It also left a some metal kind of hanging where the spent rounds cut into the rail - I filed off the extra metal. Overall, I'm not happy with this rail option as it does not hold zero after prolonged use. I gave this product 2 stars as it didn't work for me (It might work for you) maybe because it just didn't work or because I didn't install it on a traditional SKS, I'm not sure. I've already removed it.

Best SKS Picatinny Rail
This product is awesome. I have had my SKS for several years and tried several different Optic mounts and none of them come close to the MagWedge. It is a 100% solid picatinny rail that does not have any movement or play. Installation was very easy and only took a few minutes. It makes the whole rifle look totally bad a$$. Not only is this the most stable it is the longest so you have a lot of options. If you have an SKS this is the one and onlt rail mount.This product is awesome.
