Hilarious look at food across the US
This book is a collection of three Calvin Trillin books, each of which came from a series of columns Trillin wrote. All deal with his efforts to find great food on his travels across the US. The columns are from the 70s and early 80s, so some references are dated. but this is minor compared to his hilarious take on the challenges in finding and honoring local chefs, at a time when there was a great focus on new French cuisine, and the atmosphere of a restaurant was more important than the food. Trillin set out to right that wrong, and the interest today in "slow food" and "local source" shows he was right all along.This book is a collection of three Calvin Trillin books, each of which came from a series of columns Trillin wrote.
