Great Simulator
Although the learning curve is pretty steep, only because you can do so much within the game. You can go through the training course to familiarize yourself with some of the basic controls. This is a squad based FPS as well as the ability to toggle between 3rd person. I really liked the fact that it's fairly close to a 360 degree battle simulator where you can fly jets and helicopters, as well use as all the usual land vehicles. Or try your hand at commanding the whole battle field, and then instantly switch to a front line soldier. You can "write" your own simulations very easily through the mission editor. Online multi-player consist of mostly mature gamers who are serious about this game! In game VoIP helps organize your squad. This game has become much better since it's origination ... The most realistic war game simulator in the world...in a word..EPIC!!!
This game is very different than anything out there. This is not a game you just get into and play it has a learning curve to it but if you have a mouse with the wheel on it you basically can do a lot of commands by clicking down on your mousewheel and choosing commands. The good and bad: The good is the realism is very good. You can drag your teammates to safety or carry them to safety if they are wounded. There are day and night time cycles with wind and rain and also night vision capabilities. Another thing is that the arma fan base community creates what is called MODS which are basically free add-ons for the game and you can play maps like Iraq Fallujah and also insurgency which is house to house fighting like in Iraq setting. If you have a headset mic it is epic as there is ... This game is very different than anything out there. If you have a headset mic it is epic as there is nothing more awesome then flying into battle with about 15 guys in your chinook chopper and then charging the enemy bases. You can play in 1st person mode or 3rd person mode by hitting the enter key in the numbers pad on your keyboard. When it comes to realism no other pc game can match this, The maps are huge and vast and giant. You can snipe like a 1/2 a mile away and it's similiar to afghanastan on some maps. There are a lot of people playing this game and you can always find servers. THE BAD: This game needs a good pc to run it. I would download the free demo of arma first and if it runs on your pc with good frame rates then you will want to buy it. Also as mentioned earlier you have to learn the commands of this game but the game comes with the book and keyboard layout card so you know what keys do what. After a day you'll have it down. Don't get discouraged when learning as it gets very satisfying as you learn more and more and that is what makes this game good is the depth of it. The bad (continued): When you first install the game you'll be able to play single player but you will have to download the latest update to the game but this is free and it's called a PATCH. You just go a search on the internet for "latest arma II patch" and it will come up. Download that first then you'll be able to get on servers and play. Another thing you might find bad about the game is that they are a bit more strict in game. Most servers you just can't jump in a jet or chopper and fly it unless you know how and there are servers where you are expected to follow orders but this is what this game is...a simulation so when you have missions to do I think this is good as it adds to the realism. When it comes to realism nothing beats arma 2. You'll find that more adults play this game and so you get a better experience here and even when some kids get online and play they are mature and tend to respect the realism of the game which is why Arma 2 has such a huge following. If you go on youtube you can see in game videos of this game just type in on youtube "The most realistic war game" and you'll be hooked.

The Kids love it!
I bought the game for my grandson and he loves it. I can not tell you anything about the game since I do not play it. But he really likes it. He says it has a lot of action which he like.
