An excellent introduction to an unexpected style of creating beauty
Opens an unfamiliar vista in box-making. The author uses a band saw almost as if it was a scroll saw, and all of her creations are fluidly curved as opposed to the usual rectilinear boxes. Indeed, she includes patterns in the back of the book that are identical to the type used in the scroll-saw culture. The techniques are well explained, with tips covering potential pitfalls and alerting you to best practices. Title is exact and to the point,
The book has great color photos of the process needed to build the boxes that are being built.The exact build is well described and pictured, the build could be pictured better with more detailed pictures of the small items and tools used to preform the tasks. Overall it's a good book ,the cover price is a little high when you examine the fact that the title says Building Beautiful Boxes With Your Band Saw , when the only style your going to learn to build is the one that is on the front cover, not several different types of band saw boxes.A better blueprint for copying of the boxes would be well received, such as a tear out print.The detail describing the way to cut the drawers was exact and to the point, no smoke and mirrors. The reason I bought was to see the exact way the secret ... A great how-to book for artistic woodworkers.
MS. Ventura makes gorgeous band saw boxes and gives clear and easy-to-follow instructions so that even the most unskilled woodworker can achieve beautiful results. Her expert advice is invaluable and the photographs are eye-popping!
