Avis les plus pertinents

  • Just because it's for idiots, doesn't mean you are one!

What a fantastic book for beginners. This book covers all the basics, from timing and note reading, to fingering and composition. It also provides a historic look at the piano itself while showing you how all the present day features (such as the pedals and the keys) come together and make brilliant music. Sure, you won't become the next Chopin after reading this book, but it still makes for a great book for the burgeoning pianists, young and old alike.

  • Great book and very satisfying purchase

I bought this book to aid me in getting reacquainted with the piano. I took organ and piano lessons for several years until Jr. HS age, then lost interest and stopped playing. Now I'm retired, and have purchased an electronic keyboard, so I wanted a book which provided a good overview of the piano. This book is perfect for that. It is very well layed out, and the author makes it fun to learn. Would definitely recommend this book for anyone from beginners to intermediates.

  • The Complete Idiot's Guide to Playing Piano by Brad Hil

This book has a LOT of information in just one source which is great. The material seems easy to understand comprehend. Since there is so much to cover in one book, it would have been more beneficial for more practice pieces that gradually lead to skill achievement. About chapter ten, I started using another book because I was not prepared with my note identification to move forward. I do not feel that the writer truly understood the learning process. I have a masters in adult education and that is how I judged the book's approach.

  • Fun, easy to read and insightful.

Good basic info for beginning piano players presented in engaging style.
