At launch, the focus of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is on Thestra, an area of Telon that is cursed by an undead menace. You begin your adventure in Thestra, picking from among 19 available races and 15 classes, then customizing the look of your character. Become a goblin bard or Elven rogue, and then walk into the sunlight of the area to greet other players looking for a battle, quest, or just a chat. Over time, other continents become available to explore including Qalia and Kojan.<br><br>Once you earn cash, you can buy a horse, a dragon, or boat to help you get around the large world of Telon. You can also purchase a house and put it in a zoned area for a safe place to keep your things, or use the land to harvest resources, set up a vendor's shop, or even build a factory to manufacture items. Skills such as blacksmithing, alchemy, and shipbuilding could make you a vital contributor the Telon economy, or bankrupt you and leave you with just the clothes on your back. Do you have a knack for public speaking? Become the leader of a guild, or start a new city that houses the best merchants, hunters, and entertainers in the entire area.<br><br>The landscape is much like the Earth of today and features plains, oceans, islands, swamps, deserts, mountains, and fields to explore. Creatures are as diverse as the environment of Telon, and include thinking animals with the ability to understand religion, and animals that are just there for the kill. Keith Parkinson designs the fantasy world of Telon, and Mystic's Emotion FX real-time animation technology fuels the game's character generation. It is intended to give characters distinct, unique, movement yet still allow for the sharing of most animations.

Vanguard Saga of Heroes
I had a tip from a friend that this game I may like. I thought about it a few days and ordered it. I am GLAD I did. It is a Mix of several games in one the styling is the same. It has its start issues like most games. Meaning at times the graphics are a bit choppy. However the quests are not as bad, you can fight and gain abilities as you go of course. There are SEVERAL races to choose from and 3 xp charts to work your way up. It will take Characters a bit longer to reach a higher level, which is fine other games its too fast and you get to a point your waiting on new releases for them to suck the money out of your wallet for. Most may have to update thier computers for it. It is a beefy game that takes a bit more to run. Its worth it though and I have enjoyed running around so far. It's ... It's large, however when I reach the level to gain a mount it will be easier. Psionics as a class, and Racial abilities from every race. From Dwarf to lesser Giant, to Cat or dog humanoids. I love the game and I am enjoying exploring it. I hope that this may help others if they are looking to sink thier brains into a game that will make them think a bit about fighting tactics and Diplomacy as well as the Crafting skills. Yes, crafters can do COOL things including Artisan craft things like Ships. Check it out I highly recommend the game.

Great game, I'm guessing if they keep going how they are it'll be as big as EverQuest with time, it isn't yet, but it still has a lot of kinks in it. If you're they type of person that gets frustrated with a lot of bugs, then I'd wait it out a little while before you purchase the game, because there are still a mass amount of issues going on with the game, but Sigil is working diligently on the game to continue to improve it. The game was released before it was ready so you can only expect that things would be a little iffy, but those of us who have been playing since it went live realize that there is something special about this game that keeps us interested.Great game, I'm guessing if they keep going how they are it'll be as big as EverQuest with time, it isn't yet, but it still has a lot of kinks in it. Great potential to be *THE* mmorg of 2007
It has very nice graphics, and character models. Also the crafting process is pretty unique. There will also be diplomacy in the game. Most advanced "character sheet" with gear in a game to date. At the time of this review it needs polish (expanded dungeouns etc) but I expect this game to do fabulous in 2007.

Compete with WoW?
ive been playing this game for a week and everything about it is great. Especially the graphics, has a few things needing to be cleaned up but this game will do good this year and will compete with WoW one day

I'm disappointed in this game.
I'm very disappointed about this game because it's not the actual game it's just a disk that wants you to join there website in order for you to play the actual game. Not right. Outright disappointed.
