    A Good Value if You have DCC Experience

    I am returning to Model Railroading after a 45+ year vacation. While I was gone DCC was created and has become a normal part of the hobby. I realize that I've "missed" the informal training that most users have received in the basics of the technology. I'm sure that influences my opinions. Because of a long career in electronics I find that the quality of the PC board and its components are impressive. The instruction sheets are thorough and I expect more veteran users will be well satisfied. For a newbie I found some of the information confusing. As an example the instructions emphasize that you can't "run trains" on the programming track. What I didn't understand is that none of the locomotive features will operate on the programming track.     Digitrax Super Decoder

    Digitrax circuit board replacement decoders continue to be the leader in DCC technology and retro-fit control boards for HO scale diesels. This board is the latest incarnation of the long line of successful Digitrax products. I fits many Atlas, Kato, and Athearn Genesis diesels without modifications. It offers plug and play installation, although I recommend soldering all connections. The decoder is set up for LED's without the need for additional resistors. It is also setup to accept the mini grain of wheat bulbs if so desired. Programming follows the tried-and-true methods adopted by Digitrax and other NMRA compliant DCC manufacturers.     Bachmann B23-7 DCC

    I am excited to get the locomotive I installed this DH165AO Decoder in on my display track. It works great on the program and the short test track. Digitrax makes it easy to customize the decoder with many help files on their web site and access to their technicians. This decoder makes my project engine the customized delight I initially envisioned. The customizing part is new to me now, but the HD165AO responds nicely, and Digitrax is there to give me help when needed. I have tested their $0 cost warranty several times on different items; and it works also.

    Digitrax DH165AO

    I have a pair of Proto 2000 Union Pacific HO SD7's and installed these decoders into them with LED light bulbs. Super easy installation!! Took less than and hour to do both. Programmed them and put them on the track and away they went!! As a bonus, I can add the sound bug option at any time.Very happy with all Digitrax products.

    Great simple function DCC decoder

    Installed in an Atlas RS3 locomotive. Smooth starts and stops as well as running. Forward and reverse lights functioning properly front only on in forward, back only on in reverse. Default programming and I like it that way. All in all great product... Follow the instructions and warnings. This was an older Atlas engine, I did some soldering to get it working, this particular locomotive did not have the connection blocks that just plug onto the Digitrax unit.
