À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Based on the first novel in Christopher Paolini's popular INHERITANCE trilogy, ERAGON is a fantastical adventure in a vein similar to that of the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. A classic story of a quest driven by destiny and set in a land where elves, magicians, and humans live side by side, the battle between good and evil, innocence and cynicism, is taken up once again. John Malkovitch camps it up as the evil King Galbatorix, a former guardian of peace who long ago went over to the dark side. He now rules over a land from which dragons have all but disappeared, until humble farm boy Eragon (newcomer Edward Speelers) happens upon a mysterious blue object that turns out to be a dragon egg. Eragon befriends the charming dragon cub, Saphira (voiced with aplomb by Rachel Weisz), and becomes her rider, designating him as the principal warrior in the fight against evil. Jeremy Irons steals the show as the wise and mysterious old man who becomes Eragon's mentor, guiding him through the tasks of saving a princess (Sienna Guillory) battling an evil sorcerer (Robert Carlyle, TRAINSPOTTING), and fending off hordes of the hideous Urgals. All of this will strike the seasoned fantasy viewer as familiar territory, but the formula is given life by veterans Malkovitch and Irons, as well as the young Speelers. The film was shot mostly in Hungary, whose breathtaking landscape combines to great effect with excellent cinematography. The special effects, created by LORD OF THE RINGS' Digital Magic and STAR WARS' Industrial Light and Magic, more than live up to the precedent set by those films, while the dragon is film's true star.

  • A fun fantasy, even for adults, and Sci-Fi nuts

I'm probably the oldest guy to like Avril Lavigne's music (her early stuff), but heard of this movie thru her song "Keep Holding On", which, unfortunately plays at the end during the credits. Nonetheless, the story line is simple and plausible for the movie version. I have not read the book, but according to Wikipedia things progress differently towards the end than in the movie (so what's new?), because there are actually two more books in this trilogy, of which this is the first. It was just a great feel-good movie where the bad guys really get their due (and John Malkovich plays the evil king, which he acts so well). The lack of a British accent w/him is the only thing askew w/his character. Everyone is cast well and I especially think Jeremy Irons was well cast for his role as ...

  • Eragon - Pathetic movie, Rushed plot,

In short - Nothing like the book, it cut character's vital to the plot of the next books/movies, crappy acting, wussyfied pathetic fight scenes, decent special effects, overall a pathetic movie. If you've not read the book you'll hate it, if you've read the book you'll completely loath it. In full - I read the book, and when I first found that there was going to be a movie of it I was really excited. When I saw it however I seriously considered walking out of the theater. It is nothing like the book, cuts literally over half of the storyline, and it has below average acting. In the book the plot takes place over a pretty long amount of time, and in the movie the entire plot takes place over a day or two. They spend months and months traveling, training etc. and in the movie from the ...

  • Why were they in such a hurry?!?!

I must admit that this was one of the biggest letdowns I have ever watched. the plot was very rushed and crappy; I have read the book and would give it a 5 plus star any old day unlike the movie . The movie is over 100 minutes long but feels more like 30 after you have read the book, mainly because in the book Eragons journey to the Varden takes several months, in the movie it takes about a week. Did I mention they completly deleted several important characters or lessen the role of others. its obvious the director didn't mind reinventing certain characters apperence, Urgals are described in the book as having horns on their heads, in the movie they look some species of caveman, Ra'zac look like some kind of orc, and for cry'in out loud Arya the elf dosn't even have pionted ears. The ...

  • "One part brave, three parts stupid..."?

...certainly not describing the movie as a whole, but a character well portrayed by our hero! I do highly recommend this film, especially if you like stories about dragons. It was well made & I very much enjoyed it! I believe the only complaint I have is that they didn't stick to the book, but at the same time it gives the movie it's own twists, so that was not entirely bad. The music in this film was also very nice! I also would highly recommend the book, to anyone who's a reader. "You look...fit for battle"

  • eragon

this is a film for kids. Probably 12 and under. I watched it because I enjoy the medieval/period/reenactment films, the fantasy and folklore style of story-telling. However, aside from some entertaining special effects, the story (written by a teenager, so that's new and noteworthy!) falls a bit flat, hasn't got much substance and is essentially a lightly plagiarized rendition of same old-same old: dragonslayer, first knight, LOTR- these had substance, partial historical research and/or essence of story; this wannabe is merely superficial and left me feeling that I'd been slightly ripped off. So, my best advice would be to stick with the tried and true versions of dragons, wizards, fantastical creatures and legend- because this version just doesn't deliver enough to maintain either the ...
