Book or Movie? Which is Better?
Bob Lee Swagger is an independent-minded American veteran doing everything he can to mind his business and live and let live. Then some quasi-government types sucker him into their little world so that they can use him and leave him holding the bag. They have all the answers, all the money, all the power, and all the connections. They just forgot to check the man's pulse before writing his obituary. Turns out "the little man" has just enough answers, money, power, and connections to trump their lead. The way he goes about it and the way the story is presented to us are what make this a must-read. I saw the movie a couple of times before I read the book - also a couple of times. Of course they are different. They're in different decades to start with. While I really don't remember ... While I really don't remember the language from the movie that clearly, the language in the book could be cleaned up a little, from my point of view anyway. It's hard to believe these days that a movie would be less offensive, but that's how I remember it. I'll have to watch it again soon, now that I've got the dvd. The movie is "Shooter", of course, with Mark Wahlberg, Danny Glover, and new-to-me hottie Kate Mara. While the book is an excellent read, the movie may be better. Your time will be well spent enjoying either, but you really should do both. Then you can answer the question in my title. I always heard that Mr. Hunter had it all straight when he mentioned anything related to guns and/or shooting. I found one exception to that in this book, but for the most part it seems accurate. As this was the first book in the Bob Lee Swagger series, the author may have gotten that one error put behind him and be as factual as I've heard. I have intended to follow up with the next book in this series but haven't gotten to it yet. I look forward to it.

The story is unbeatable.
I bought it because the older (red and black, no Donny Wahlberg) cover was displayed. What did I get? Donny Wahlberg on a newer trade paperback. Won't buy from these folks again

Point of Impact
It's my 2nd time reading this book I usually read Stephan Hunter so fast I miss some of the finer points. I loaned out my original copy & never got it back.This is the 1st of a trilogy that includes Blacklight & Dirty white boys they should be read in order although they do stand alone.Hunter tells a great story his books are to adults what Dr. Seuss is to kids just fun to read.

used book binding coming apart
Books falling apart don't buy used hardback. it is hard to read when it is falling apart. Otherwise it is a good read.
