Telefunken was a German radio and television company founded in Berlin in 1903 by Siemens & Haske and the Allgemeine Elektricitas-Gesellschaft company. Telefunken rapidly became a major player in the radio and electronics industry for both the civilian and military during WW1. Telefunken built transmitters in radio sets and designed the V-41 amplifier for the German Radio Network. The company then built radio transmitters and supplied vacuum tubes and radio relay systems during WW2. Telefunken was the originator of the FM radio broadcast system. Telefunken then established a modern type of semiconductor in 1959. The company works in numerous fields, including energy-saving technology, data communication networks, electrical elements, direction finders and detection, vacuum tubes, radio relay links, speech recognition, and long-distance traffic. The Telefunken 5654 vintage tube is a vintage part to keep your old electronics as close to their original state of sound quality and power as possible. The wobble and distortion of the Telefunken 5654 Vintage Tube sounds great, whether playing rock n’ roll or classical violin. The vacuum tube, or valve, is a device that controls the electric current between electrodes in an evacuated container. Vacuum tubes rely on thermionic emission of electrons from a hot filament or a cathode heated by the filament. A photo-tube achieves electron emission through the photoelectric effect. The simplest vacuum tube—the diode—contains only a heater, a heated electron-emitting cathode, and a plate. The current can only flow in one direction through the device between the two electrodes, as electrodes emitted by the cathode travel through the tube and are collected by the anode. One or more control grids within the tube allows the current between the cathode and anode to be controlled by the voltage on the grid and the grids. Other tubes are beam-powered tubes, gas-filled tubes, miniature tubes, and multi-section tubes. Batteries and AC power drive the electricity to the tubes. Major rivals include Sylvania and General Electric. The 5654 tube is interchangeable with 6AK5, EF95, 6J1, the Little Dot MKII, 6AK5W, and the Sylvania 5654 matched tubes. These Telefunken parts were manufactured in the U.S.A.

    These sound so good I lose sleep staying up for "Just one more song" (and then just one more....)

    I've listened to a lot of tubes in my Little Dot MKIII set up as a preamp for my stereo. With thes, cymbals shimmer (I can even hear when the drummer hits different sized cymbals. Bass is very clear, the tone is letter perfect and well made recordings sound much taller, wider and deeper than the speakers. I've never heard anything like this combo in my life. These Telefunkens with cryogenically treated Electro Harmonix 6H30PI ppower tubes.

    Transparency on the Little Dot Amps

    I have a bit of experience with tube rolling on the Little Dot MK II, and I mainly use my HD 600's. I've used RCA's, Mullards, Chinese stock tubes, Voshkods, and now these. The best way to describe these tubes is transparent, more on that later. These give a very pleasant listening experience. The Telefunken's manage to give a solid feeling - like it's a body of sound. There's this weird depth to the music. The bass sounds so sweet and the highs are crystal clear. However, I will say these tubes are not forgiving on bad recordings. More times than not I was discovering parts of songs I couldn't hear on the rest of my lineup. I will say out of the box, the tubes seem to lean more towards mid-forward, but not overwhelming, giving some burn in time helps. If I were to rate these tubes: ...

    Good valves, see comment's

    These are within the top few valves of its kind for an audio application. They are as quiet as the best Western Electric valves but with a larger sound stage and very better tonal qualities.
