I ordered 8 books and 1 cd from this seller. I received 12 children’s books. Seller will not address this issue as I do not have a printer at home to print a return invoice. Very shabby customer service, not very ethical to not rectify one’s mistakes. I will shop any of the other booksellers on here from now on.

    the year of magical thinking

    Joan Didion tells the story of disbelief and coping after the convergence of 2 unthinkably difficult events in her life that cause permanent changes. For anyone who has lived through the death or illness of a family member, you will recognize these emotions though Didion is more eloquent and descriptive than most of us. It's a bit thick with name-dropping but that was her life of relative fame with her and her husband's writing career. It may not offer solutions, just validates the emotions of grief and the healing nature of time.

    Great book, great condition!

    Joan Didion is concise and direct about a complex topic, as always. The book was also in great condition.

    THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING

    Purchased this for my Mom who lost my Dad, her husband 3 years ago. She is stil having a rough time dealing with his loss. After all the reviews I had seen and heard about this book, I thought it would be a good book for her. Apparently NOT. She said she was sick of the author rambeling on and on. The book only depressed her more. It did not help her at all to deal with the loss of her husband, my Dad. I Would not recommend this book to anyone!

    star portrait of the journey which is grief

    This book is for anyone who is unflinching and unafraid to visit the dark corners of the journey which is grief. Not a book to necessarily comfort or uplift the bereaved...don't buy it for anyone else but yourself...but certainly a validation of a journey rarely depicted with such frankness. Anyone who has grieved deeply will see themselves in it....It is often suggested that writing can help one through bereavement and Joan Didion is a writer.....and her description of grief is so personal and painful...anyone grieving will see themselves if they dare
