Product Information

The pixel-happy production company Blue Sky follows its successful feature ICE AGE with more animated antics in ROBOTS. Rodney Copperbottom (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is a talented inventor who hopes to make his fortune by moving to Robot City and working among the nuts and bolts of the robotics industry. Rodney fantasizes about building robots for his boyhood hero and master inventor Big Weld (Mel Brooks), but when he meets him, Rodney's dream threatens to turn rusty. Big Weld reveals that his company is now being run by the evil Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), a merciless moneymaker who wants to rid the world of the antiquated robots that clutter up the streets of Robot City. This leaves Rodney's aspirations needing a major oil change, and with little chance of finding work, he feels about as useful as a broken spare part. So he takes to the streets, where he finds some unlikely salvation in a group of robots lead by Fender (Robin Williams). Fender urges Rodney to help save them from the scrap heap, while Ratchet and his company create threatening new policies on robot reconstruction. The ensuing action leads to a breathtaking set of adventures in the futuristic city. A fun, dizzying delight, ROBOTS benefits from the many voices of Robin Williams, who is the perfect comic foil to Ewan McGregor's central character. The special effects are masterfully handled, and the rendering of Robot City is a true sight to behold. A film that should find a broad audience among adults and children alike, ROBOTS is fast-paced animated entertainment at its finest.

    Robots (2005, DVD)

    I don't buy animated kids films for their deep story lines. If you want that, go to the drama section of the video store. I thought it was a fun, light-hearted show. I showed it for most of my nieces and nephews and they all enjoyed it. There was humor for most age levels, so an adult can watch it, too. However, the more adult related humor is over the heads of the kids, so I wasn't too worried about that content either. Those bits were subtle enough that only the adults understood them, and even those were quite mild. Overall a fun show that I will watch again.

    Robots good kids movie....The humor is often subtle and

    Is a good movie for kids.. my daughter is 3 years old and she loves it. I do not think she undestands some of the jokes but she enjoys it. Good story fun and colorfull. It is a fun movie that will make the movie-watching experience better than any movie this year. And to think, this is an animated, G-rated movie Best Aspects: The theme, the connection from animation to reality, and the amazing plot twists that lead to an unforgettable, tear-jerking ending. The movie opens with his excited Dad, who is anticipating the delivery of his baby — except this delivery is not quite the same as a human one. Rodney arrives in a box, ready to assemble, since "making the baby's the fun part". Each year, new parts arrive, such as training wheels and "big boy" parts, and Rodney accepts that they are ...

    Robots is cute, funny and endearing.

    I bought this DVD for my young son and ended up watching it with him. It was a funny, heartwarming story. I liked the message of the film - you can be what you strive to be. I liked the robot parents, especially the father because he was a hard worker and he encouraged his son to do the same. I liked the fact that they were poor and the son had to wear hand-me-down parts but he never complained. Then the young inventor robot left home in hopes of making a better life for himself and his family. The end result was fabulous - believe in yourself, never give up and your dreams will become your reality. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

    Replaced

    Finally after all these years I finally replaced this title as the one I possess is defective. This one is perfect and completes my collection but most of all the transaction was seamless and without incident.

    Scratched movie

    I am sure the movie is good, just not the disc I bought. Read the feedback ratings. Over half is neutral or negative. I didn't and it was a mistake.
