(Soft over) Irregular People - Joyce Landorf's inspiring little book draws heavily on the writer's personal experiences. She relates a number of stories about people she calls irregular people and how they can impact the lives of people around them. Joyce Landorf related how she had gone trought a devorce, suffered from TMJ and how she learned to cope with some of the irregular people whose lives touched hers. This book is about growing beyond those with whom we must sometimes share lives and spaces with, who are somehow out of step with the rest of the world. She helps the reader find the victorious path along the rocky roads we all occasionally travel. This little paperback is a good book to pick up and read. This book was written circa 1982 but is totally relevant to anyone today. It's not about how to get along with your jerk boss or nosy neighbor. It's about those people who are so close to you in your family - those who have influence or authority if you are or were once very young. Those people who know you and know how to best hurt you. They may do it deliberately or more often just carelessly and callously. They are people you can't avoid forever. Joyce Landorf can tell you how to deal with "those" people because she has had an irregular person in her life. She is an excellent writer and gets to the heart of the matter. Really good book if you are still carrying scars or hurts from your childhood. "Why can't you be as smart as your brother?" "You will always be fat and ugly ... good book to help you deal with Your Irregular person God's way
I have read this book many years ago. and found it very helpful to know that there are people who understand your problems. Had a loved one who had this problem and bought the book for them .. and It helps me to understand what they are going thru, So now I had a friend that had the Irregular person in their life I bought another book for them. It is a Christian book which I think was good to think about things like GOD does.I have read this book many years ago. and found it very helpful to know that there are people who understand your problems. turned my life around.
At a very difficult time in my life, my pastor recommended this book. I read it, began incorporating some of the ideas into my life and THEY WORKED. I was able to forgive my irregular person, accept that part of him that I loved. I have since bought at least 8 extra copies and given the to people that seemed receptive to the message the book imparted.
