Caps for sale.
I loved this book when I bought it for my children in the late 1970s, loved it as a preschool teacher in the 80's and 90's, and I still love it. It has charming full color pictures that are folk-tale simple and bold. The story has great rhythm that will keep the children repeating the phrases that the cap peddler says over and over. " caps for sale, " etc. The plot is simple and easy enough for the very young child to understand and will keep the interest at the same time. Lots of humor with the monkeys that steal the peddler's caps. Great large group story book that will have the children asking you to read the book again and again. The child who hears this story one time, will have no time "reading" this book on their own, over and over. This book has all the elements that are essential ... A peddler that sells his hats crosses paths with some mischievous monkeys.
This is such a great book. I recommend the sequel that the authors understudy created based on her illustrations and inspired by the writing of this book. Beautifully illustrated and written. It gives a glimpse back into the past while keeping young minds engaged.

Caps for Sale
This book was a favorite with my own children and continues to be so with my toddler students with special needs. As an early intervention special education teacher whose specialty is home care, I am always on the alert for excellent books, toys and games that will capture my students' attention and imagination. Caps for Sale is one of those books, because I can get my students to imitate the peddler's antics and increase their sense of humor at the same time, as well as increasing their language and focus. This book is a true classic. Phyllis L. Mandelbaum, MS,Ed.This book was a favorite with my own children and continues to be so with my toddler students with special needs. Caps for sale book
I loved this book from the first time it was read to me.im building a small library for my grandkids and I wanted to make sure I got this one. I used to demonstrate this book by making the run and get all the hats we could find in the house and I would stake them on my head. Then I would stack the hats on their heads. We laughed and had a fun time.
