Finding Your Own North Star
Having heard and read bits of wisdom from renowned life coach, Martha Beck, of Oprah fame, this seemed like a good book to read. Beck has a vast reservoir of knowledge in the psychological arena and an enjoyable writing style. The premise is that if a person doesn't aim for their true north, he or she will not be happy, and life will be difficult. There are exercises to help you find your personal north star. Beck is a convert from the Mormon church under which she says she suffered terrible abuse. For this reason, she has adopted her own brand of spirituality, claiming that all God wants for us in this life is that we be happy. Beck seems to espouse hedonism, which is not scriptural. I found it difficult to get past this. She also writes about unusual counseling techniques and ... Life changing!!!
This is a book that has changed my life----and I believe it has wisdom for everyone. Very practical, takes you step by step into discovering what's missing in your life and how to be your best, essential self--the real you, as you were meant to be.

Excellent Title
From reading Oprah magazine for the first four years, Martha Beck was my favorite section. I was very grateful to find she had begun writing books. This book takes her line of thinking, her creativity, her insight and helps the reader to understand themselves with the same forethought, insight and creativity that her writing resonates. There are concrete steps to take and exercises to work on. It is like having a traveling guru with you at all times! It is easy to pick up right where you left off. Her writing is welcoming and completely coherent; easy to read. This book is so much more than just that; it could be the best thing that ever happens to you! Finding Your Own North Star
Love this book. I have read several of Martha Beck's other books and hoped that this would book would help "steer" me in my search for a better self. I love her style of writing, so easy to follow, great concepts. She writes as if you were talking, having an invorating conversation. This book is wonderful at putting or helping you continue on the path to enrichment. I think anything we do to understand ourselves and our actions helps us to grow without blame and negativity. I highly recommend those book who choose this continuing journey.Love this book.
