Product Information

"Scott Brick delivers a powerful and entertaining reading reminiscent of a theatrical performance in a brilliant one-man show. Brick's voice is ideally suited to this extraordinary tale; no doubt he studied the prose of each novel to capture the dialect perfectly. This is a superb, solid reading that will appeal to fans and newcomers alike." - "Publishers Weekly," Starred Review Frank Herbert's "Dune" ended with Paul Muad'Dib in control of the planet Dune. Herbert's next Dune book, "Dune Messiah," picked up the story several years later after Paul's armies had conquered the galaxy. But what happened between "Dune" and "Dune Messiah"? How did Paul create his empire and become the Messiah? Following in the footsteps of Frank Herbert, "New York Times" bestselling authors Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson are answering these questions in "Paul of Dune."The Muad'Dib's jihad is in full swing. His warrior legions march from victory to victory. But beneath the joy of victory there are dangerous undercurrents. Paul, like nearly every great conqueror, has enemies--those who would betray him to steal the awesome power he commands. . . .And Paul himself begins to have doubts: Is the jihad getting out of his control? Has he created anarchy? Has he been betrayed by those he loves and trusts the most? And most of all, he wonders: "Am I going mad?""Paul of Dune" is a novel everyone will want to read and no one will be able to forget.

  • Review: Paul of Dune by Brian Herbert, Kevin Anderson

A Dune follower since childhood, I have read and re-read the original Dune series at least 4 times. The additions by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson, I found adequate and enjoyed the explanations for questions I have held for years. However, I found Paul of Dune the least interesting and least necessary of the additions. Don't want to give it away. Sure, the novel provides further insight to the unspoken years, but I thought the portrayal stripped away a great deal of necessary mystique and contradicted the meaning of the original Dune series. I almost wish I had never read it.

  • An Amazing Look At Sci-fi's Greatest Hero

This novel is a true jem, and by far the best written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. The writting style is vastly improved over their other books (excluding the first coulpe of chapters, which were horendous, but soon picked up pace). There were a few chapters I could have sworn were written by Frank Herbert himself. Unlike many of their previous novels, this book has a philisophical undertone that complements the novel well and makes it feel much more like one of Frank Herbert's original works. That being said, there were times when the dialouge was corny or facts were overstated or over explained. But these are few and far between. Now, for the story itself, or stories, they were seamlessly blended to make a truly wonderful tale. I would have loved to see seperate books to tell ...
