  • Great TBS, Great Copy Protection

First I must say that I've enjoyed playing the civ games since the time of Civ 2 test of time. That said, I believe that Civ3 complete is not only an improved version of the previous version, but is also a good combination of Civ 3 and its two expansion packs(Play the World and Conquests). I think this is a great game for anyone over the age of 8. For anyone younger it would be to complex. I do not know of any other 'modern system' turn based strategy game. The only problem I found with this game was when I tried running it. I purchased the game new from the store, and when I tried to play it it said, "Insert disc 1 to play". I had the disc in the drive. I solved this problem by exchangeing my 'atari' version for the one from 2KGAMES. This solved ...

  • Civilization 3 complete

My 13 year old son just bought this game (with approval of course). It is such a relief from the war games and driving games. It keeps him happy AND THINKING for hours. He just says: GREAT GAME AND LOTS OF FUN Believe it or not, it has even helped him remember his world history facts as he sees them "in history". It appeals to me as a mom because it reinforces history & government and draws on his (hidden) creative talents as he plans civilizations and carries out those plans. It appeals to my son because it is fun. There is plenty of action and even wars if you like. You can build an army. Its more in your control, not just what some gaming geek thought up. Build your cities, countries, towns. Watch them grow over thousands of years. Replay as many times as ...

  • It's Civilization on steroids. WARNING Additive!!

For some reason, deeply rooted in my Catholic heritage, I've always bucked tradition. Popular movies? I won't see them. Well read book? I'll ignore it. I've never seen the Godfather or Gone with the Wind (maybe because of my age LOL). Nor until I bought this game, had I ever played Civilization. BUT, there are some things - like taxes and death - that you cannot (or rather should not) ignore. I loved Civilization II - the limitless possibilities, the combat, the development, the exploration. It might truly have been the best strategy game of all time. Even if it wasn't, it definitely left some big strategy shoes to fill. The game stepping up to fill them is none other than Civilization III! The game plays well in 1024 mode, and the little settlers, workers, and ...

  • Awsome Game

Civilization III is a big improvement in graphics over Civilization II, Civilization II is a great game for people with older computers or people who are just starting out with Civilization. It is one of the most addicting games that I have ever played, the first time I played it I played for 8 hours. Civilization III Complete is a better deal than if you where to buy Civilization III and then add on "Play the World" and "Conquests." Conquests allows you to go to a preset game that reenacts a time in history, although, you can change history. You can play as Japan in WWII and destroy America. You can play as Romans in the fall of Rome and keep Rome from being destroyed. Play The World allows you to start a normal game on other gamers maps that they created without going ...

  • Civilization III The Thinking Man's Shooter!

I like this game because you get first person shooter during combat, a dipolmat when in neogitiations with an enemy, a scientist when developing new technology. It has it all! I've owned this game for a couple years and play it whenever I have a few hours to spare, it's very addictive! I don't know if I've ever won, but my games last longer and I accomplish more achievements each time I play. I let a friend borrow it for awhile, but missed having it in the tractor trailer with me when I'd have a long time to wait on a load. I bought this copy for my friend, he's a busy Master Electrician, but he told me he enjoys it too when he can squirrel away sometime at night or on the weekend! I'd like to get the new Civilization V & SimCiv too! Shawn
