Unique one, that would make you like it.
First, I'm not a huge fan of Anime, except of few :) but well who wouldn't be fan of "Akira" or "Ghost in the Shell" after watching it. Whatever. Second, Daft Punk is definetly one of those pushing electronic music forward. Their "Homework" did that. No ? Here's the rocks you can trow it at me. After watching some of the film videos on MTV or whatever channel I decide to give it a try. Well I don't miss with this one and I've found it a place on my short video shelf (less movies but better !!!) Since then I watch this about 5-6 times and it still rocks. So you don't have it ? Here on eBay you'll easely find it and see the cost is usual for that unusual thing. Buy and enjoy. Great electronic group, but..
I'd never heard of this adaption of some of their songs before, and thought I'd give it a shot. When I first played this, I thought it would be an anime with their songs included, not the whole-movie-rockin' that it turned out to be. The visuals and clarity are great, especially when you realize how well Daft Punk's songs fit into the motion on screen, and the animation choreography blends in better than older movies, like say Odin: Photon Space Sailor Starlight, which was a rock-a-thon in it's day, but Interstella 5555 was is near as clunky, and has no repetitive elements seen in so many other animated movies. ONE MORE TIME!
Honestly, this DVD pretty much changed the way I WATCH music. An extremely good soundtrack with excellent animation in the background. Or is it the other way around? Either way, if you're into Daft Punk or their genre of music, then this is definitely worth getting. The story is easy to follow, if if the lyrics (when the songs have lyrics) have very little to do with what's going on on-screen. Special features on the DVD are sort of boring. There's a karaoke mode, but it's really not worth trying to sing like daft punk. They're different.Honestly, this DVD pretty much changed the way I WATCH music. Impressive
When I first saw this, it was on Cartoon Network. It was apart of the whole Toonami launch, I believe, and it was only the first four songs. Years later after owning the album, I decided to search for the videos on youtube.com, and I found the four I was looking for, but I also found a lot more. I was shocked after I did some digging and found out that Daft Punk did the entire Discovery album as one long anime movie. I knew that i could find it on half.com or if not certainly on ebay. I've watched it time and again, and I've got other anime enthusists to check it out. It's a great item, and it should be apart of any anime, or techno/trance fans collection. I just love this DVD, having always been a big fan of Daft Punk, I have been actively seeking in in Aus for years now and finally got around to ordering it from the US. What can I say - Discovery is such a fantastic album, but once you`ve seen Interstella, the album takes on a new direction in your mind, as each song brings up images of the anime. My 3 girls love to watch it and are more into the Stella / Shep lovestory than (and I quote)`those losers in Twilight`. Having grown up with Matsumoto`s animation, it`s like an hour or so of pure bliss for me to watch this and just chill out!!
