The DMC-FP1 features a 4x optical zoom Lumix DC VARIO lens. The folded optics technology makes it possible to fit the high performance lens in futuristic, flat body. The lens cover can be opened and closed with the touch of a finger, and also serves as a power switch.In iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, 4 detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimize your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time.To realize the sonic speed AF, a number of re-engineering and improvements are made including the adaptation of higher-speed actuator, the optimization of algorithms and the parallelization of software processing element. The result is ultra high speed yet accurate AF performance for users to enjoy the airy shooting that has experienced never before. Panasonic also replaced its linear program processing with parallel processing to achieve an ultra high-speed start-up time.The DMC-FP1 can record motion pictures in high-definition. The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-picture recording even in low-light settings.The DMC-FP1's large 2.7-inch LCD features high 230,000-dot resolution Intelligent LCD. It automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps according to shooting conditions. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, ranging from nighttime to bright daylight scenes. In addition, the high-angle mode makes the display extremely easy to view from a low angle, for example, when taking photos by raising your hand upward to capture the subject over the crowd.

    Excellent mix of features, size and quality at a bargain price.

    Great little take-anywhere camera. I'm a professional photographer, and I already have big cameras, a coat-pocket compact, and a camera in my smartphone. But, I wanted something small enough to slip into a pants pocket and take with me every day, something with better image quality than my smartphone and with a zoom lens. And, something cheap enough (under $100) that I wouldn't be upset if it got knocked around or lost. This is small enough to go in a front or rear jeans pocket. The image quality is good enough for an 8x10 in good light. The image stabilization helps me get steady shots in low light. The menus and controls are easy to understand and use. And, it turns on and shoots within 2 seconds.

    Excellent Product.

    For the price I paid for the camera, it was a bargain. This is a basic point and shoot camera. The automatic features work well. Occassionaly it may take a second or two longer for the optical stabilization to set so you can take a very clear picture. I put a 8GB card in the memory and as with most cameras, once you have about 200-300 pictures on the card, it takes a little longer for the pic to be recorded so you can not always take continuous shots. Overall very good camera. I like the slide cover for the lens and the compact size.

    Great camera for a great price

    Great camera! I had one for two years but it got damaged and needed to replace it. I love size, it easily fits in my pocket. Also, I prefer compact cameras that the lens doesn't pop out when you turn it on. It has a ton of automatic settings as well manual controls. Picture quality is awesome! I plan on using this camera for as long as I can.

    Best quality and price.

    An aquaintance demonstrated his camera and how inpressed he was with it While I already had a comprable camera made by another company, I purchased this one. The picture quality is great, the size is perfect, and ease of operation much better than other brands.

    Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP1K 12.1 m Digital camera

    Very nice design and quality-extremely compact. Great image quality and features. Good value.I think the HD video is a great feature in such a small pkg-great for travelling, biking, hiking.
