Product Information

The outcome of the Pacific War was heavily influenced by the results of naval battles between the Imperial Japanese fleet and the US Navy. One of the key elements was Japan's large fighter component, which had gained experience over Manchuria, China and Mongolia in the late 1930s. Flying A5Ms, at least 21 pilots achieved 'acedom' securing air superiority for the invaders. Manufacturer Mitsubishi derived much from these campaigns, producing one of the best fighters of the War, the A6M Zero-Sen. Navy pilots proved to be highly skilled when engaged by the Allied forces, Pacific. Pilots like Nishizawa, Sagita and Sakai scoring more than 60 kills apiece.

    Hard to find facts, info and pics are found HERE!

    So little interest & effort went into preserving the heritage and bravery of these elite aerial warriors of the "Rising Sun"! I am so glad to have found this and added it to my Osprey books collection of the WWII aces. I also love the books for the awesome full color covers rendered by the great aviation artist; Layne Wiley. I will continue to add these books to my collection as time and opportunity allow.

    Imperial Japanese Navy Aces book

    I am interested in World War II aviation, especially the Pacific Theatre of operations. The Osprey Aces series of books is an excellent source of information about aircraft used in WW I , WW II, and beyond. Every book in the series has great color profiles of the subject, interesting period photos, and a good narrative. Very educational!! There is nothing about this book that I dislike. It is a good investment for the historian or modeler wishing to learn about Japanese Navy pilots and their planes during World War II.

    Excellent book with much unknown information

    There is a lot of information about allied , german, and british aircarfts and pilots , but near nothing about Japanese . An this book fills that gap. In this book I found some very iteresting and unknown information , as that most japanese pilot were only enlisted men. Very few officers...¡¡¡¡¡ Also some true and amazing stories of some air combats and more. In all , the price was very good and the book brings very good information and pictures , that helps you to understand too,part of the history.

    Needs more info

    As with the Japanese Army aces book, the volume only occasionly compares Japanese claims against official US/Allied records of losses which would be informative.
