Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe presents coin-op and comics fans alike with the chance to battle through never-before-seen fantasy grudge matches featuring the most powerful characters from Midway's notoriously brutal fighting series and DC Comics' expansive superhero universe. Although it's not the first fighting game to bring together characters from multiple fictional universes, many of the most recognizable DC heroes are playable in head-to-head bouts for the first time here. <br><br>The roster of 22 playable characters includes Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya, Raiden, and Kano from the Mortal Kombat games, with Batman, Superman, The Joker, Wonder Woman, and Darkseid from DC. Each character has a particular fighting technique, as well as a distinct, Mortal Kombat-style finishing move. The game's "Freefall Kombat" allows fighters to battle as they fall from one level of an arena to another, and the "Klose Kombat" mechanic handles up-close grappling. An expanded single-player campaign follows a storyline in part by comics writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray. Unlike earlier Mortal Kombat console games, Vs. DC Universe receives a rollicking T for "Teen" rating from the ESRB.

This seller is exceptionally awesome. Great communication, very pleasant dealing with. The speakers that I bought were delivered VERY QUICKLY, (we live in the same province). Dealer’s description of of speakers actually down graded them. Upon opening the package I truly had to look at them with a magnifying glass to find the imperfections. The packaging was absolutely perfect there was no chance of damage (within reason). Sorry no photos, had speakers in place prior to leaving feedback.

Packs a punch but fails to deliver

The models are well down and the movements true to the MK series. The DC characters (especially The Joker) are well done and provide a good visual crossover. The backgrounds are basic, and were an after thought. Sound: Good – 7/10 It is what you come to expect from a Mortal Kombat fighting game. In depth sound effects and background clashes and music soundtrack are decent. Gameplay: Good - 7.5/10 Smooth animations, and a great return to the MK series. This is probably the best iteration since Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. This ... The combat can seem a bit slow, but the ease of pulling off moves, combined with the crossover gameplay and online modes, make this a worthy step in the MK Universe of fighting. Replay Value: Good – 7.5/10 The single player story mode, though interesting, is short, even considering playing both sides. The lack of extras or inclusion of things found in MK games in the past, really take away from the single player experience. The multiplayer is the real reason to buy this game, and it is the only reason to own this game. The matches are fun, and they keep you coming back. Overall: Good – 7/10 By no means is this a bad game, but in the Fall release of 2008, with such big titles, it fails to pack a punch. This may have done better as a Spring/Summer release. Please know that I am a MK faithful, and I love it. Looking at this from a non-biased standpoint, it is hard to argue being a true standout. This Mortal Kombat iteration was geared to appeal to the mass audiences. Taking away much of the violence and brutal fatalities to get a T for Teen rating, takes away a lot what the MK brand was. In the early 90’s, Mortal Kombat pushed the edge, and this version plays it safe to sell copies of games. With other fighting games such as Virtua Fighter 5, Soul Caliber 4, and the up and coming Street Fighter 4, this fails to deliver graphically and in the gameplay department. Once you get past “Batman is fighting Sub-Zero – awesome” moments, not much is left. This game is short, so be prepared. The single player experience lacks the extras and unlockables, and lowers the replay value.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (Xbox 360)
This is a great game, but it has issues. Firstly I think they should have gone with Marvel. Marvel would have been more accepting I think of the violence generally associated with a good Mortal Kombat game. Secondly the 'rage meter' makes Kombat a little laborious and annoying against computer opponents. Thirdly it desperately needs more unlockables, such as characters, costumes and the like. Otherwise this is a beautiful game! The graphics are stellar, the soundtrack is great, the kombat is engaging in short it is a great game except for my earlier gripes. Get it, enjoy it and don't try to compare it to Street Fighter IV or Soul Calibur IV because its just not as good as either of those.This is a great game, but it has issues. Get over here!!!...No wait, get out of here!!
Ok what was I thinking, sure a new Mortal Komabat coming out you're like cool, it's about time it's getting some next gen play. Then you here DC will be in it as well, WHATT now this game is going to rock. Then you get it and you're psyched, and that's all you'll get with this garbage, is psyched into buying a real, no wait, a dumb fighting game for the next gen. This game has lost some of the greatest things they've put in a Mortal Komabt game, like when Deadly Alliance got it's konquest mode. Or when Armageddon got chess and even racing, but what does MK vs. DC get...a boring story mode that you can play both sides for 7 boring chapters each. Once that's all over you can unlcock 2 characters, yeah that's right, ONLY 2!? gee I don't know what to do with myself now.The battle system is ... Ok and the fatalities, haha, what a joke they are, sure I know, DC didn't want their characters getting all thrashed and what not, but c'mon these fatalities are a joke compared to the very first MK. I'm a very big fan of MK but this was a complete let down. I think the only replay value you're going to get out of this game is of course online. The rest is not much to come by here, unless you want to put the game on VERY HARD and TEST YOUR MIGHT. Then after that, GET OUT OF HERE, is what you'll be saying with the game, cause it'll just waste shelf space.

Loved Killer Kast Of Kharacters: Midway pares down the roster to a lean 22 combatants, of which there is very little filler — especially compared to the over-stuffed 60 character line up from Mortal Kombat Armageddon. There are a few notable absences — Kung Lao, Reptile, Lobo, Despero — but outside of personal preferences, the "greatest hits" selection of fighters is more than adequate. The Flash and Joker are tons of fun to play and MK mainstays like Sub-Zero and Scorpion feel fresh despite their age. A Flashy Fun Alternative: It may not have the deep fighting mechanics of its competitors — Street Fighter III: Third Strike and Virtua Fighter 5 snobs will likely turn their nose up at such fluff in between counting frames — but it's still a hell of a lot of fun to play. Having given up any semblance of competing with the hardcore, it's still enjoyable, personally, to play MK games against my more casual circle of friends. The Klose Kombat and Freefall Kombat modes add a welcome, if occasionally imbalanced, diversion from straight up fighting. Campy Story Mode: Both sides of the core story line are a blast to play through, giving you about six hours of single-player gameplay when you don't feel like getting your hat handed to you online. The cinematic sequences blend in surprisingly well with the action, all of which is held together by the barest of storytelling. It's occasionally (unintentionally?) hilarious to see the Mortal Kombat and DC universes intertwine. There's solid fan service with respectable production quality helping to put some extra shine on the campy package. It's The Best DC Fighting Game Since Blizzard's Justice League Task Force: I may have grown up a Marvel man, but it's still amusing to see Batman, Green Lantern and Superman go at it. With the exception of Wonder Woman's bizarre moveset, the DC side translates to the fighting genre beautifully. We're hoping there's a sequel or spin-off, so we can see how, say, Martian Manhunter or Plastic Man fight.

Fun fighting game
Game is pretty fun for fighting, but the story mode is kinda cheesy or corny. That's just my 2 cents on it. Wonder Woman... is opee! The Joker is fun! Anyway, game came as described, and is a nice addition to my collection. :)
