Product Information
Super Pro Football pits you against the computer or a friend in four quarters of gridiron action. The first of several Intellivision sports games to carry the words "Super Pro" in the title, the game features nine skill levels ranging from 1 (Rookie) to 9 (Super Pro). You can select the same skill level for each team or use different skill levels in order to handicap a superior player.<br><br>When calling plays, there are nine defensive formations, four defensive tactics (blitz, cover receiver one, cover receiver two, and cover both receivers), and nine offensive formations from which to choose. After setting your offensive formation, you can design a pass pattern for both of your receivers using a series of up to 12 keypad entries. When on defense, you can call an audible (change your defensive scheme) after you see your opponent's offensive formation, as long as the ball remains at the line of scrimmage.<br><br>There are five players per team. Whether playing offense or defense, you control the captain of your team. Offensively, it is the quarterback. After receiving the ball from the center, you can run, pass, or punt. When a pass is completed, control switches to the teammate who caught the pass.<br><br>When playing defense, you as captain can pursue the player running with the ball or try to intercept the pass. To make a tackle, you must hit at least half of the body of the ball carrier. If one of your teammates (a lineman or a back) intercepts a pass, control switches to that player.<br><br>Other features and aspects of Super Pro Football include timeouts, safeties, touchbacks, and field goals. After each quarter and after every score, you will see the press box, which is a series of three screens showing the score, time left in the game, total yardage gained, number of pass attempts, and other game statistics.
