Product Information

The unwitting recipient of a destructive prosthesis -- a powerful blaster grafted onto his left arm -- John Cain awakes to find himself being hunted down by a military organization, with no recollection of the events leading to this predicament. Inspired by Contra and other such titles, One is a pseudo-3D scrolling shooter in which players find themselves traversing a variety of locales, from futuristic Blade Runner-esque cities to remote mountainous regions, all in search of answers. The central gameplay mechanic is the player's Rage meter. Simply put, John Cain is fueled by rage. By destroying objects, killing people, and generally causing all kinds of wanton mayhem, he will increase in power. Cain's rage is represented by an orb-like indicator that undergoes a number of color changes, from the relative calm of green to an infuriated red, and beyond.<br><br>The higher the color, the more damage the character can sustain and, as an added bonus, the damage yield of the arm blaster is increased as well. Eventually the protagonist will be capable of unleashing a mighty special attack. Taking too much damage however, will cause the meter to revert to a lower state. Though his primary means of attack is his newfound appendage, John Cain is capable of executing melee attacks as well. He can also perform a handful of evasive maneuvers, such as rolling, strafing and even a double jump, which must be mastered in order to traverse the many platforms and pitfalls that await in the title's eight missions. Restart points are scattered throughout the stages and players can save their progress at the conclusion of each level.

The Spine to the PS1 case was broken, A detail that was deliberately left out of the description which was very misleading. The item was not in like new condition. Scuffs, scratches, BBQ stains and a broken spine to the case (SEE PICTURES). Which did not occur during shipment as there were no broken pieces in the package. Based on my experience I CANNOT recommend this seller. EBay needs more quality control.

This is ridiculous. It's a jewel case. Just put a new cover on it. The printed media and the contents were all intact.

Not bad for 8 bucks!
While at a local game store many years ago, I was browsing the PS1 titles and that is when One caught my eye. The reason it jumped out at me wasn't because of a fancy cover, but because it was only 8 dollars and that was for a brand new copy. I had to double check to make sure it wasn't out of place and when I determined the price was legit, I promptly paid for it. Now, since I paid a bargain bin price for One, I was really only expecting a bargain bin experience. Shortly after I started playing, I knew I would of easily paid what a new PS1 game typically went for and still would of been happy. One's graphics are slightly above average for a PS1 game. The characters are small and the larger sprites have that polygonal quality that was typical for PS1 games. The sound is also better ... Music is minimal and relagated more to the background. You will hear mostly radio chatter from your pursuers, whichs adds greatly to the game play. What really compelled me was the non stop action that really doesn't let up. From the moment you are blown out of a hotel room to the final boss, you are engaged in a frantic race. One easily rivals cinematic experiences. You start off with a pretty weak energy weapon, but as you kill and destroy, your rage meter increases and so does your power. The controls take a little to get used to. The platforming elements tend to be the most frustrating part of the game since it is hard to make some of the jumps and not fall to your death. What really won me over was the way One engulfed me into the role of someone being pursued by a relentless army. I am pretty sure you can pick up a copy of One for less than 8 dollars today. Any reasonable price is worth it. I am glad that One was priced so low to get me to buy it, since otherwise, I might of passed it up. If you are looking for a game that puts you in the role of a man being chased by an army, One will not disappoint.

Great underrated game
Game is so hard, I used to play demo all the time and I never beat this game. But it is fun and I still enjoy this game. So far I can’t get passed 2nd level

One for Sony Playstation System
This is a great game. Platform setting, third person shooter. The stages are action-packed as you have the go through each stage, powering up your arm blaster, picking up secondary weapons. It's a great all-out destruction game. The graphics in this game are retro-ps one. The camera angles kind of make the game a little challenging a times. All-around this is a good game.
