Hostile aliens and claustrophobia rule the day in Dead Space, a survival horror game in the vein of the classic film Alien. Dead Space takes place in the distant future when Earth's lust for raw materials has extended deep into the galaxy, and giant ships roam the cosmos mining planets for resources. Gamers climb into the spacesuit of systems engineer Isaac Clarke, sent with a team of investigators to the massive USG <I>Ishimura</I> to determine why communications have gone dead. Once aboard, Clarke discovers that the more than 1,000 crewmembers, including his love interest Nicole, all seem to be missing, dead, or transformed into hideous alien mutants. To make matters worse, Clarke's transport ship is destroyed, his fellow investigators are slaughtered, and he is forced to scramble through the <I>Ishimura</I>'s labyrinthine corridors weaponless and alone.<br><br>The game's action takes place from a third-person perspective, and the narrative is revealed in classic survival horror fashion through messages scrawled in blood, the dying utterances of mortally wounded crewmembers, and any discarded logs or journals players may stumble upon. Gamers can loot corpses for credits which can then be used in the ship's many automated vending machines to purchase weapons, upgrade Clarke's space suit, and gain access to restricted areas. Much of the ship's interior has been damaged and thus lacks oxygen or gravity, creating a number of environmental puzzles, and making choices regarding upgrades exceedingly important -- powerful weapons offer little solace to a player devoid of oxygen. However, choosing the correct weaponry is also crucial, because the creatures that dwell within the <I>Ishimura</i> are terrifyingly powerful, and unlike most games, the action in Dead Space doesn't pause while players check their journal, change weapons, or reload.

    Awesome Underrated Game

    Dead Space is one of those games that just comes out of nowhere and really amazes you. The game has great graphics, storyline and controls. The story is very reminiscent to the movie Event Horizon. The guns are very original and fun to mess around with, with it adding to the game a bit of RPG type elements of upgrading armor and weaponry. Theres lot of action and moments that make you jump in the game. At first I was sort of hesitant on buying it due to not hearing much about it before hand, but I definately don't regret it. There's not really much I can complain about in the game. It's sort of a mix between Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill.     Dead Space Review

    Dead Space Review for PS3 and 360 100% Must Buy! Best Survival Horror Game. Graphics- 10/10 Stunning graphics, If you don't like the game-play then buy it just for the visuals! Cut-scenes can compete,if not beat final fantasy. Smooth transitions in movement give the graphics an edge that makes the whole movement look like a cut-scene. I was honestly amazed. Gameplay- 8.5/10 Honestly im not a 3rd person fan, but this is still great! Smooth transitions in movement, easy to see your surroundings, perfect aim and shooting, awesome space levels.     Dead Space...If you don't have it...GET IT NOW!

    It is hard to find a starting spot for this review. You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer dispatched to the suddenly silent USG Ishimura, a space vessel specializing in massive-scale resource mining. When you arrive you find that everyone is dead and the crew isn't just dead, they are mutilated and dismembered. Enough of the story, now it's time for gameplay. This game will make you jump out of your seat, it is that spooky at times. The gameplay and weapons are really great. If you are a fan of survival horror games then you need to pick this game up.     Dead Space bring a new thrill to Survival Horror

    Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10 The graphics are make you look twice – you feel as if you are on the ship with Isaac, and even in deep space. Though the levels look similar, you will see the immediate beauty of this game. It is a difficult thing to be consistent, yet differentiate enough to create an entire ship. Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10 The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game. Surround sound is a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps of the habitants of this game.     Dead Space, its not quite dead with a 99/100

    Dead Space Storyline- I loved the story, it was involving and logical (or at least as much as it could have been considering) while it was largely related to most other survival horrors it had a great deal of originality. And some well defined universe history, although it wasn’t really elaborated upon 20/20 Graphics – Fantastic and beautiful. It has to be the best that I have personally witnessed on the 360 to date. 10/10 Game play- The game controls ran almost flawlessly cutting off limbs to kill enimes was a great innovation and it was a nice twist on the old Headshot kills, now even if you shoot them in the head THEY JUST DON’T GO DOWN!
