Classic tube Mic that will make your vocals sound warm and smooth.
Wonderful Mic for Vocals and other applications. this mic will perform excellent in the studio for you. I bought this mainly for vocal's since I think tube Mics give Vocals such a warm and full sound to your vocals. Hook this up to a very good pre-amp and you will nOT be dissipointed with the results at all but the trick to getting a good vocal track is having a very good pre-amp. Think of it this way, you're only as strong oas your weakest link. The K2 adds a touch of that classic analog character into your recordings, feeding a signal into your interface that's extremely detailed, but sweetened by genuine tube-driven circuitry. There's not a plug-in in the world that can emulate this sound. With a K2 at the front of your signal path, you'll be starting ... At figure-eight it's the perfect choice for a wide range of acoustic instruments including guitar, strings and piano. At the omnidirectional position the Rode K2 makes a phenomenal room mic, or can accurately and pleasingly capture the most notorious of instrument sources like harp or upright bass. Do yourself a favor and pick this Mic up and you wil not be disapointed it s a great Mic and cando it all.

Rode K2 Review
I bought this mic because I wanted a versatile mic that can handle high SPL, under $1000 and also gives some character to my sources. I use this mic for vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar cabinets, drum overheads, and most everything. I'd probably say it really shines on acoustic guitars the most though. I have two of these and I really liked that I picked both up for under $500 each. Im also a big fan of modifying existing gear and Ive heard that once you change the tube in the mic (which is very easy to do) it makes a WOLRD of difference, so I will probably be doing that very soon. One cool thing is that it has a variable polar pattern which can be changed from the power supply instead of on the mic itself. My dislike is that it IS a tube mic so it has to have a power ... My dislike is that it IS a tube mic so it has to have a power supply and big bulky cables which is ok if you have room to maneuver around but Im usually working in confined areas so it tends to make it a little more difficult. My second qualm is that the high end can tend to be slightly harsh especially on cymbals that have a slightly harsh sound already so don't expect it to be the cure for a bad source BUT again, as I said before, I believe swapping tubes will help out a lot. For the money, I'm not sure these mics can be beaten. Just make sure a tube mic is what you want.

A+ for the first thing in my vocal chain!
I’m thrilled with k2 so far. It picks up an amazing amount of room noise for my less than Ideal home studio, even in a cardiod pattern but that was expected. I use the API Unison channel strip with an Apollo Twin and an Octo Satellite rig. I simply engage the extremely effective gate in the API plugin and good bye fan, neighbors pounding, cat meowing etc. I also only used the k2 on an extremely quiet, intimate male voice and the k2 has provided a silky yet detailed result, this is also after maxing out the gain on the API for some lovely crunch. The signal then gets smoothed out and lightly saturated again with some even harmonic tube action from the Summit Audio - TLA UAD plug. Overall, Im very please with the contrast and depth created with that setup and it of course starts with ... I’m thrilled with k2 so far.
