Loosely inspired by the time-honored Disney theme-park ride, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL is a swashbuckling high-seas tale directed by Gore Verbinski. When Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), an eccentric rogue, arrives at Port Royal, he barely avoids going down with his ship. Soon enough, he's in the market for a new one, but not before he saves the life of Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), the beautiful daughter of the governor (Jonathan Pryce). This act of bravery sets into motion a sweeping adventure involving Elizabeth's childhood friend, blacksmith Will Turner (Orlando Bloom); a mysterious medallion; and a legendary pirate ship, the Black Pearl. The Pearl's mottled Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) wants Elizabeth's doubloon necklace, and when she's kidnapped by the ol' salty dog and his crew, Sparrow and young Will must rescue her and find out the truth behind the ship's curse.Verbinski's PIRATES is a welcome throwback to Hollywood offerings of yesteryear, filled with rope-swinging heroes, crusty villains, treasure hoards, swift swordplay, and even wittier wordplay. Screenwriters Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott have crafted one of the most clever action-movie scripts in many moons, and this gives the filmmakers and cast (especially Depp) plenty of room to cut loose. Although the skeletal pirates may be a bit frightening for small children, there's lots of humor to temper the scary moments, making PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL a nearly flawless fun film.

Tape arrived ripped open but its description stated it was 'new/sealed'. Plastic ripped open is not 'sealed' in mine or most definitions of the word. I reached out and seller said 'sorry you seem disappointed, the picture showed it'. The due diligence you have to do on this one's items probably isn't worth it. Buyer beware.

Finally Disney make a non-animated movie worth watching
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl shows one of the best sides of Johnny Depp. I couldn't believe Disney made such a great movie. The visual effects is amazing and the cast is perfect. As always Disney comes out with a great plot and incredible storytelling abilities. This has it all, great comedy, great action, and romance that people will love. Johnny Depp as Cap'n Jack Sparrow is perfect. He plays the part extremely well. There is nothing that I don't like about this movie. It's worth buying even if you hate Disney, the movie have very high replay value.Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl shows one of the best sides of Johnny Depp. I couldn't believe Disney made such a great movie. Better Than The "Sequels"
Unlike The Country Bears, this film took a Disney ride and adapted it for the screen successfully. There's an intro full of foreshadowing, characters that are fleshed out, character intros that are actually epic and an iconic villain you won't soon forget. Plus, there are sword fights, kickass fight scenes, sailing that rivals that of Master and Commander and some backstory that is more tell, don't show. Too bad they just "had" to cheapen it with sequels. Let's just go all Fanon Discontinuity on them like so many have done with the "sequels" to The Matrix, shall we?Unlike The Country Bears, this film took a Disney ride and adapted it for the screen successfully. Awsome Movie!
This is a great movie! I grew up around Disney World and remember riding the Pirates ride many of times. It was great to see certain things from the ride added into the movie. Then you have Johnny Depp who does a wonderful job. He plays Capitan Jack like no other person could have done. There are little movements and looks he does that just makes you laugh. The movie has great sword fights and wonderful special effects. This is just a great movie to own! I can't wait for the second one to come out!This is a great movie!
