À propos de ce produit

Product Information

TWO FOR THE MONEY, featuring Al Pacino, Rene Russo, and Matthew McConaughey, provides a most unexpected twist in its thrilling tale of high rolling bookie cons and sports gamblers. Brandon Lang (McConaughey) stars as a college football great permanently downed by an irreparable injury. He discovers a second talent, however, in predicting a game's winner and loser--a talent that makes him very attractive to Walter Abrams (Pacino), one of the country's leading sports betting consultants. Abrams takes on Lang as his protégé, moving him to Manhattan and allowing him to grow used to the lavish lifestyle. But, the seemingly perfect father/son relationship gradually unravels as Lang loses his touch and Abrams seeks too much control. The ensuing action, enrapturing even Abrams' wife Toni (Russo), resolves in a stunning revelation of con after con, leaving viewers to wonder whom to trust.Directed by D.J. Caruso (TAKING LIVES, THE SALTON SEA), TWO FOR THE MONEY is not the first time Al Pacino has played mentor to a protégé. In similar films such as ANY GIVEN SUNDAY and SCENT OF A WOMAN, Pacino brings to bear the commandeering and charismatic personality that made him so great in THE GODFATHER and SCARFACE. The understated performances by the rest of the cast allow Pacino to shine, and to make believable Abrams' manipulation and Lang's naiveté. Combining the intriguing and often illegal world of sports gambling with the solid story of con against con, TWO FOR THE MONEY makes for a satisfying thriller.

  • Two For the Money DVD - Still Money, But only a 4/5

Two For The Money is a highly enjoyable DVD that features a strong cast (good acting from Al Pacino, Armand Assante, Jaime King, Jeremy Piven, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Garman, and Rene Russo), a great concept (sports and gambling - awesome!), the killer combination of Jeremy Piven and Matthew McConaughey) and good direction... So why isn't Two For the Money a 5/5 rated DVD? Unfortunately the film is too predictable. Its clear to see (from the previews and progressing plot) that McConaughey will hit a rough streak, Pacino will get grumpy and upset, etc. Yet Two for the Money is still enjoyable and a fun ride percisely because the characters allow it to be. This film could have easily collapsed and become a dragging movie... But it is continually saved by Piven, McConaughey and sports ...

  • The Lure of Riches & Success Doesn't Impress Me Anymore

The film begins with Brandon Lang (Matthew McConaughey) breaking his knee in a professional football game which ended his promising career as a high profile quarterback. While recuperating Brandon is forced to work in a phone service using 900 numbers to pick the up and coming winners for the week's game scores. After many successful predictions, Brandon is enticed by Walter Abrams (Al Pacino) to move to Manhattan and work with him in his gambling advising business. Brandon is even coaxed to change his name, personality, and routine to become a famous adviser to rich clients of Walter's gambling enterprises. Walter must groom him to "look" the part. As such, Brandon becomes John Anthony, the man who can produce fabulous results every weekend during the majority of the football season. ...

  • Lacks good actors besides Pacino, but still decent...

I am an avid sports bettor at times, it stemmed from my ability to be a decently profitable poker player and gamer. That is why I decided to buy Two for the Money. I saw this movie a few years ago and it struck me as an amazing film. However, now that I have knowledge of not only gambling but what also makes a good movie, I feel slightly different. All of the relations to betting, the industry, and the general thought process and emotions of a bettor are done very well. However, I feel the role of Brandon Lang could have been portrayed much better by someone other then McConaughey, although who could have done it doesn't immediately come to mind. Some of the acting in the movie was just poorly done. Without Al Pacino in the cast, this movie would not be in my collection. Rene Russo is just ...

  • "Great Movie"!!!

Al Pacino, Matthew McConaughey, & Rene Russo!! I didn't need much more in getting myself to own this one!! Also my applause for the rest of the actors that contributed to this film!!

  • Two for the Money (2006, DVD)

Two for the Money has a formidable cast: Al Pacino, Matthew McConaughey, and Rene Russo (Get Shorty) play compulsive personalities caught up in the high-testosterone world of sports betting. Brandon Lang (McConaughey, Sahara), a once-promising football player sidelined by an injury, has an uncanny knack for totting up the statistics and personalities involved in any football game and picking the winner. But he doesn't gamble himself: He offers tips via a phone line. His string of successful picks attracts the attention of Walter Abrams (Pacino, The Godfather, Dog Day Afternoon), a man building a media empire on sports tips, even though he himself can only resist his own gambling addiction thanks to the fierce devotion of his wife, Toni (Russo, Tin Cup, Get Shorty). Brandon swiftly becomes ...
