The Wolfman (2-Disc Unrated Director's Cut) [Blu-ray]
Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman, is lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father, Talbot sets out to find his brother... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe, tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline has come to investigate. The performances in the movie were absolutely fantastic. Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo ... The performances in the movie were absolutely fantastic. Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and Emily Blunt all delivered and really brought their characters to life. It's always good to have great performances in a horror movie. The action sequences are pretty exciting and they'll keep you at the edge of your seat. Just when you think it's safe, something crazy happens and mayhem ensues. The 'kills' are also pretty awesome. The werewolf in this movie is pretty insane, so expect to see a lot of blood, gore, and human body parts flying around all over the place. The violence, along with the dark atmosphere, really gave a suspenseful experience. The pacing of the movie starts off slow to introduce the characters and setting, and then all of a sudden kicks to high gear and then goes back to a slow pace again. Finally, the ending wasn't that great. But overall, "The Wolfman" is a pretty decent horror movie.

Good movie, underrated.
Great movie, and great price. My only complaint is the movie I received is not the same as the movie that was pictured. The picture shows the original version from the old days is included too. I didn't make a big deal about it because I figured it was a stock photo.

First off I just want to say that this film looks FANTASTIC on BluRay. The cinematography, the lighting, the colors and the special effects are all great. The rest of the movie.... meh. Good performances from Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. So why is this movie so.... bland? Everything else just felt "there" like there was something missing. (excitement?) The end battle between the wolfman was short and disappointing, the alternative endings both sucked and the plot just seemed to clunk along without any real pace. I can see why this movie gained such average reviews, I just can't put my finger on why the movie is so yawn inducingly boring, it has so many good things going for it, but in the end it is just.... Good Scary Movie
An excellent scary movie without all of the modern day filth, just good old school scary, Anthony Hopkins is at his best as alway !

Watch the director's cut, you'll thank me later
I'll never understand why this movie bombed at the box office; despite its flaws, The Wolfman is easily the best werewolf movie since An American Werewolf in London in 1981 with its atmospheric score, stunning cinematography, creature effects delivered by the god of movie monsters, Rick Baker, superb performances by Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt, and you can't go wrong with a Victorian England setting. The theatrical cut does suffer from pacing problems due to sloppy editing and plotholes character-wise, but the director's cut luckily solves most of that although it is gorier, hence its unrated status. While there is no comparing to the original 1941 version, this version has a special place in my heart, it recalls the spirit of the classic Univeral Monster movies with ... I'll never understand why this movie bombed at the box office; despite its flaws, The Wolfman is easily the best werewolf movie since An American Werewolf in London in 1981 with its atmospheric score, stunning cinematography, creature effects delivered by the god of movie monsters, Rick Baker, superb performances by Anthony Hopkins, Benicio Del Toro and Emily Blunt, and you can't go wrong with a Victorian England setting. This is the film that should have jumpstarted the rebooted Universal Monsters franchise, not Dracula Untold or the 2017 remake of The Mummy.
