MOST Unusual!
Bjork may be the most original artist on the planet. It is hard to say what genre she would fit into. The music is mostly computer generated as far as I can tell, but she incorporates live instruments including a large string section on some of her tracks. The music is quite beautiful and strange. Some of the tracks would fit in well at a rave or house party, others are too slow in tempo to dance to, but are quite majestic. Turn the main light off in your room, put on some lava lamps and other funky lights and maybe burn some incense - you won't need any drugs to trip out! Her vocals are high-pitched, and she sings unlike anyone else out there. She is from Iceland and has a rather unique accent. Because of her quite different voice, singing and musical style, bizarre lyrics, etc, some ... Bjork may be the most original artist on the planet. It is hard to say what genre she would fit into. The "Homogenic" album is different from her earlier "Post" album in that it has a more somber tone to it. She's more playful on "Post." "Homogenic" is still a fantastic album, though, and best for night listenning. There is no parental advisory on this album, but the song, "Alarm Call," has one f-word in it which may offend some people. It surprised me, because "Alarm Call" is the most upbeat track on the album. My favorite songs are the first 2. "Hunter" starts off the album, and is quite haunting. "Joga" is named for her lover at the time, and is a very romantic song, but not sappy like most love songs by other artists. I had to listen to it a few times to realize where she was coming from lyrically and how the song is romantic. It is quite powerful. Another highlight of the album is the song, "Bachelorette," whic is really dramatic and creepy. Bjork goes through a lot of mood changes on this album. The last song, "All is full of love," is quite beautiful and slow, and ends the album on a sublime note. I did not enjoy all the songs, but most were excellent, and that is why I am giving this album such a high rating. Overall, I still like "Post" better, because I've been listenning to it for many years and it still knocks me out - however, some of the tracks on Homogenic I've been playing quite a bit and will be listenning to for years to come. I have just ordered her debut album, and will probably buy the others sometime later on. If you want a most unusual listenning experience that will entertain, disturb, and take you to another dimension of reality, then this is the album you want to buy - 'Nuff said! - Thomas

A Good Place To Start
My favorite Bjork album is usually the one I'm listening to at the moment. In other words, they are all great and I can't make up my mind. Regardless of if this is or isn't her best I think that it just might be the best choice for someone looking into buying their first Bjork CD. It draws you in and hooks you from the start. If I had to choose my favorite song I would say Bachelorette is the lucky one. The music on Bachelorette reminds me A LOT of the music on The Residents wonderful Tweedles album. Of course, Bjork's sweet vocals remind me that it's not Tweedles but I get in the mood for Tweedles everytime I listen to Homogenic and especially Bachelorette. 5 Huge Stars.My favorite Bjork album is usually the one I'm listening to at the moment. Haunting and Delicious
Although there are some tracks on "Homogenic" that I prefer more than others, overall, the entire album proves yet another impressive effort by Bjork and further proves her near singular standing as one of the most uniquely talented artists alive.
