Metal Clay by Jackie Truty (2007)
This book is a treasure. A variety of techniques are presented, the pluses and minuses of different methods/tools, and a lot of inispiration for projects. Some of the projects are not with metal clay but sound enticing and 'doable' with the straight-forward directions. Love this book and hope to try several projects in this coming year. I'm no artist, but even an amateur can have fun with this and the real artists in my family will have access to it, too!This book is a treasure. Metal Clay by Jackie Truty (2007)
The book I got is thehard cover design. The pages are thick and look like they can withstand some abuse. The pages are on wide rungs to make it easier to tun the pages and keep the pages from tearing out easily. Which will come in handy since most likely if you use the book, it will be used while making or using the techniques mentioned through out the book. The book starts with basic use of metal clay and how to treat the clay until ready for firing. Then the book progresses to jewelry to stone setting techniques. Covers low and high heat clay, ring making, necklace and broken clay repair.The book I got is thehard cover design. The pages are thick and look like they can withstand some abuse. The Book I've Been Looking For!
This is precisely the book I've been looking for! The instructions are detailed, the photos are clear, and the format is handy. When the title says "A Complete Guide", the author means it. This book covers just about every question you might think of, and goes way beyond the basic "craft manual" sort of books into the realm of fine art without being intimidating in the least. The book is easy to read, it is written like the author is talking to the reader. She is funny too.

Absolutely great guide to Metal Clay!!
This book is written by Jackie Truty, one of the true experts in this media. It was recommended to me by an instructor as the one book to have if you only have one reference. So right! The instructions on firing, the information on all types of clay and the clarity of explanation are all first rate. One other thing, it has a spiral binding and will lay flat when reading, a real asset if you are reading the instructions to something you are doing. I totally recommend this book!This book is written by Jackie Truty, one of the true experts in this media.
