Norman Jewison (MOONSTRUCK; IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT) directed this thrilling adaptation of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, starring Ted Neeley as Jesus and Carl Anderson as Judas Iscariot. Among the classic songs in the film are "I Don't Know How to Love Him," "Hosanna," and "King Herod's Song (Try It and See)." The song score was nominated for an Academy Award.

    I loved this on vinyl, I loved this in the theatre, and I still love it.

    I seen the movie when it came out in the 70's Loved it then and I love it more now

    It was an upbeat musical. From the point of view of Judas. A must see !!!

    This is Great... It was not as I anticipated because I thought it was going to be actors and old style movie. Not complaining but this version was made in the 70's with an upbeat cast. For an upbeat crowd. Focusing the story from the eyes of Judas point of view. I'm no critic I had memories from this play in school. "74" This is why I bought it... I shared it with my daughter of 9 years and she enjoyed it as well as I did. The songs are catchy and she can't stop singing Close your eyes ... everythings alright ...let the world turn with out you tonight... You have to hear it to understand. :)

    Awesome movie!

    My brother and I watched this movie every year when they aired it on TV around Easter. I haven't been able to watch it for years, so now I will. It's a great movie, if you haven't seen it. The songs, the singers and actors are awesome. One of the best movies of all time.

    Well worth at least two watchings.

    This was originally hard to understand but has become, to me, a true reflection of what bible could mirror in the '70's and what can be understood today. The new song about can we start again is very Catholic. It is a great attention getter for the shy.
