    Colors

    A confident young cop is shown the ropes by a veteran partner in the dangerous gang-controlled barrios of L.A. about to explode in violence in this look at the gang culture enforced by the colors that members wear. This movie is an intense, powerful movie that takes you to the streets in an extremely realistic way. "Colors" has many different plot levels that all come together very nicely. Sean Penn and Robert Duvall are right on the mark as the two officers on the beat. Dennis Hopper did an excellent job in directing this movie. If you like gripping action/dramas about police vs. the war on crime, then "Colors" is for you. It's not for everyone. A solid crime thriller.

    Colors DVD

    I liked the story line...how a "know it all rookie" police officer fresh out of the academy had attitude w/o charisma and that worked against him in the field. But over time and through the loss of his partner who mentored him, he learned how to build relationships of trust and later used some of the same techniques used on him to then mentor other rookie police officers into proper police officers. I hated some of the language...its totally NOT necessary! I bought it because I saw it on TV years ago and always liked the relationship the characters played by Robert Duvall and Sean Penn built with much confrontation and common sense humility.

    many people would be surprised, Colors is real it is

    This is a Gangster film, with the cover with 2 cops. The cops resemble the 1980's to 1990's LA cop era. It also means the time when Gangsterism, Crips and Bloods, and Mexican gangs started to be as violent as it got. After we had just heard of it in Northern California. When I lived up North near by San Francisco, a real live Colors movie was going in LA. And I believe this is more like a documentary more than what it is. A++++++ greatest gangster hits

    Very Entertaining

    Fabulous movie about L.A. gangs.Robert Duvall is wonderful as officer Bob Hodges,the seasoned street cop.Sean Penn plays the know-it-all,a@@hole cop Danny "Pacman" Mcgavin brilliantly.He plays the role so good,that you almost want to hate his character.Maria Conchita Alonso as Louisa Gomez (romantic interest of McGavin/Pac Man and member of 21st Street Gang) is smoking hot in this movie.This movie is hard-edged with alot of great action.Saw this back in the 80's,and it still is an excellent movie today.
