Instructor's Choice for Forensic Test Beds
There are several different distinct products with the model number A1278. This is for the MB467LL/A (Late 2008) unibody MacBook. This particular model has a latch release for the battery and hard disk drive compartment. It lacks the firewire and SD Card ports that earlier models had and later models reinstated. Most Mac users will miss the firewire and SD Card support more than they will benefit from easy access to the hard disk. However, when it is necessary to remove and replace the hard disk frequently, the late 2008 model is the only choice among MacBook Pros. I bought my MacBook to use in computer forensic classes and to create test situations. Contemporary MacBooks have a hard drive removal process that includes removing about 16 screws and at least 5 torxs screws in addition ... Love it or Hate it
The MB467LL/A macbook is an amazing computer in that it looks real nice and its really sturdy feeling. But to be honest, i think thats all it holds to its name. Ive been a PC user for around 10 years now and ive really gotten to get used to PC's until i decided to switch to mac for video editing reasons. The internet on this seems fairly slow im guessing because its made of aluminum. Also its hard to find certain programs for mac. So if you want to get a mac, in my opinion, id stick with a PC because for $500 you can get the same specs and stuff as a mac (maybe even more) so you dont have to pay $1,000 for looks and ok performance.The MB467LL/A macbook is an amazing computer in that it looks real nice and its really sturdy feeling. Powerbook no more, long live the Macbook!
Well this macbook is replacing my 15" G4 powerbook which decided to die recently. First off some things that popped out to me were: 1.) The latch or rather no latch in the front but still keeps the lid closed. 2.) Built in camera, that's cool! 3.) The power adapter is truly a great idea. Magnets hold it in place in case you, someone or something trips on the cord, and it can be plugged in either way. Great design! Some of the other things I like; 1.) Lots of processing power, doesn't even flinch where the powerbook choked. 2.) Good size hard drive and it's quiet. 3.) Doesn't get near as hot as the powerbook. 4.) I can run the newest OS X. 5.) The airport has N-speed capability. 6.) It's lighter and thinner. Granted the powerbook was 15" and this is 13.3", you can hardly tell. 7.) The ... One thing that I don't care for a whole lot is that the trackpad isn't split at the rear for clicking. I'm just so used to that with the powerbook. The single track does work the same way but it's just enough to slow me down and cause mis-clicks here and there. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. All in all this is great Apple product as usual, their innovation and design are leading edge and I can certainly say that since my first mac purchase (G3 ibook) nearly a decade ago... "Once you go Mac, you don't go Back!" ;)

Great MacBook that is as close as you can come to being a MacBook Pro!
This is a nice MacBook. This is the only MacBook unibody aluminum laptop that has the backlit keyboard. This is as close as you can come to being a MacBook Pro without actually being one. The only differences that I can tell about this and a MacBook Pro is that this machine doesn't have a firewire port. And the 9400 graphics chip uses system shared memory, where as the MacBook Pro has a discrete graphics processor that uses it's own memory. It is not widely know but there is a firmware upgrade that allows this machine to support 8gb of system memory! I know because I have upgraded it and it runs great. Use of this feature also requires an upgrade to Snow Leopard.This is a nice MacBook. This is the only MacBook unibody aluminum laptop that has the backlit keyboard. Great Mac!
All I have to say is that this was a very fun and fulfilling experiment for me. I bought this Mac to see if I could restore it to working condition and use it as a normal computer, and thanks to the great quality of the laptop, I was able to achieve my goal.
