Great bino's, but needed to be collimated
Awesome set of bino's! I got these thinking a tripod was 'recommended' and that i'd just hand hold these but the tripod is heavily recommended. These came not properly collimated (i saw double images) so I had to order a jewelers screwdriver from ebay to collimate these. I just got around to it and almost fixed it and will fix them after finals. Once collimated, these will be amazing! I live in SD with a lot of light pollution and I was able to see Jupiters moons (look like dim stars around jupiter so don't think you'll see features) and Saturns ring (pretty much an oval looking planet). Keep in mind these weren't collimated. Even if they aren't collimated you can still close one eye to view an object clearly. This is coming from an amature but I have done a good amount of research. ... Awesome set of bino's! Lastly, the tripod adapter that comes with these is plastic, which causes these to shake/vibrate back and forth which can get slightly annoying. So i went and bought a metal one from Orion for under $20 and it was worth it. In all, great pair of bino's but it is HEAVILY recommended to have a tripod with a metal adapter. For the noobs, don't freak out if you see double, just google this and you'll find a solution.

Celestron Skymaster 15x70 Binoculars with tripod adapter
I was pleased with the SkyMaster when it arrived. However, the adapter would not fit on my photography tripod and the plastic knob that screws the adapter to the binoculars broke off when I touched it. So now I have to use pliers to turn the end of the adapter screw to attach it to the binoculars. I also had to shave material off the adapter to get it to match up to tripod plate, Otherwise the binoculars are great for looking at the stars. It is heavy to hold and is difficult to look at the stars for any length of time because of the weight. robust and simple to use
it is light and quick to use, no set up time like with big telescopes , good for close planets and bright nebula like the one in orion.. , Grrreat for the moon and fast objects like the international space station, with strong arms you dont need a tripod with this, but some may want to use tripod, also good size aperature to gather light, wouldnt recommend for the fainter things out there

Celestron Skymaster binoculors
For the price, they are great binoculars for star gazing. Although a little large for hand-holding, they capture plenty of light in the dark so where you might see 5 stars with your eye, you will see many more around them using these. They come with a tripod adapter so I plan to get one and use for longer sky watching.

FANTASTSIC BINOCULARS FOR THE PRICE
As with any on line shopping you rely on positive reviews before making any such purchase decisions. I wanted the best visual power binoculars that could give me clear crisp views of the night sky and terrestrial objects. I thought that such binoculars would be way more expensive than what my budget would allow but found the Celestron Sky Master 15x70's on ebay for way less than even lower spec expensive branded units in my local camera shops here in Australia. From reviews this brand ticked all the boxes and has a good name in optics with their telescopes. I ordered and while waiting kept reading about how good other people found them and decided to order another set for my son in New Zealand as a gift. Mine arrived from Kentucky within 10 days in good order and condition thanks to ... As with any on line shopping you rely on positive reviews before making any such purchase decisions. Mine arrived from Kentucky within 10 days in good order and condition thanks to adequate layers of protective packaging. Upon opening they did not disappoint. 70mm lenses (coated to attract light) and best rated BaK-4 Porro prisms. These are bigger and heavier (just under 1.5kg) than your standard binocular sizes but you can still use them hand held for short periods. For celestial and prolonged use would strongly recommend a sturdy tripod that would cope with up to 3kg of weight. These can be purchased for not a huge outlay and will be well worth the money spent for the viewing quality. The only negative is the thin neck strap but this can be replaced by buying a comfy wide padded strap type at little cost. These Celestron 15x70's are outstanding value and give great image quality. Friends and family cannot believe that I got so much binocular power & clarity for the price. I am extremely happy with my purchaseS and have no problem in recommending these 15x70's, Fantastic!!!
