Cyberhome CH-DVR1500 DVD Recorder
I bought this unit on ebay for parts/replacement for one I bought on clearance at WalMart. Cyberhome is to DVD recorders what British Leyland was to automobiles! Although it can fun to "drive" when it is working, you never know when or if the CH-DVR1500 will work. Design flaws, inferior materials, faulty programming, and sloppy workmanship make the CH-DVR1500 quirky and unreliable at best. Three different models of the CH-DVR1500 and multiple software upgrades never produced a DVR that lived up to its potential. The CH-DVR1500 has a well-earned reputation for mass-producing coasters, freezing while attempting to read a disk and refusing to open up to release the disk, over-heating and burning out its power supply, or otherwise just plain dying and transforming itself into a doorstop. ... I have owned 5 of these machines over the last 6 years. they are a nightmare. Only reason i use this model number is if you plug another dvd player or playstation 2 and an old vcr rca inline stabilizer to it. you can copy any copyrighted dvd. but almost all of mine quit reading or burning dvd+r disks.and wont finalize to play in another player. they will burn only phyllips brand dvd+rw rewritable disks. 3 of them the door wont open without beating on top 4 or 5 times unless you always leave a disk in it. 4 of mine. all the buttons quit working. must use remote. 2 the drive quit. replaced with ones from pc tower.and my newest one has a different operating type system. and you cant set the record speed quality.and they like to freeze up, and make you unplug unit. Cyberhome CH-DVR 1500 needs a fan installed to keep it cool
Cyberhome CH-DVR 1500 does not have a fan inside to cool the DVD recorder, but you can install a computer case fan with a male and a female 4 pin power connector to where the 4 pin power cord connects to the DVD drive. The fan will turn all of the time that the DVD recorder is on so you must turn off the switch in the back when the DVD recorder is not being used or unplug the DVD recorder when not in use. Also you can drill a 1/16 hole 1/2 inch back from the right side of the face plate of the DVD tray and 1/8 inch down from the bottom edge of the face plate to have a access hole to insert a paper clip straighten end to eject the DVD if the eject button will not eject the DVD. I have not had any problem with set or recording with this recorder. You do have to follow the directions in the owner manual.
