Like the 2003 animated short films of the same name, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS reveals what happened during the conflicts of the title, which are set between EPISODE II: ATTACK OF THE CLONES and EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Unlike the former series, this CLONE WARS feature film uses computer animation (rather than more traditional 2-D animation) to tell its tales, which follow Obi-Wan Kenobi (voiced by James Arnold Taylor), Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter), and precocious new Jedi recruit Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) as they face off against the sinister Separatist forces led by Count Dooku (the legendary Christopher Lee, who reprises his role from the live-action movies). The film also features appearances by such beloved characters as Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson, also of EPISODES II and III), C3PO (Anthony Daniels), and Yoda (Tom Kane). Directed by Dave Filoni (AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER), THE CLONE WARS shares the same era and characters as the 2003 series, but is stylistically quite different, with a blocky look influenced in part by the marionettes of the 1960s U.K. show THUNDERBIRDS. While the voices of actors such as Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christiansen, and Frank Oz are missed, their successors handle their mantles well, confidently leading the heroes in fierce battles and tense chases. Though diehards of the original STAR WARS trilogy may shrug their shoulders at the CGI wizardy, young fans will find much to enjoy in this action-packed movie, which promises to be continued in a regular Cartoon Network TV series.

    A Star Wars for young kids

    The film opens without the traditional scrolling prologue and is replaced by a transatlantic voice that would have been at home in a 1980's Saturday morning cartoon. From here we are thrown into episode 2.5 of the Star War saga. Without giving too much away about the plot: the acting and characters are wooden and two dimensional, even for a kids film (or for that matter a recent Star Wars film). The dynamic between Anakin Skywalker and his new sidekick, will grate on the nerves of anyone over the age of 8 years old. The stiff animation makes everyone come across as a cross between an action figure and a Thunderbird. Another problem is for a theatrically released film, it's "shot" (if you can call it that) in an almost camera-nailed-to-the-ground fashion. Compared to recent Pixar efforts, ...

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a 2008 animated feature film directed by Dave Filoni and executive produced by George Lucas. It was the eighth Star Wars film to be released in theaters, and the first since Revenge of the Sith in 2005. The film is a first for the franchise in two respects, being the first theatrically-released animated film in the series and the first Star Wars film not distributed by 20th Century Fox. The Clone Wars served as an introduction to the animated series of the same name that premiered on Cartoon Network on October 3, 2008; not to be confused with the similarly titled Star Wars: Clone Wars series from 2003. It did, however, birth a series that would eventually achieve greatness. This Blu-ray is the highest quality version of the film available to own, best enjoyed as part of a complete collection of "The Clone Wars" series.

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars...Fun movie with great action!

    Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a nice edition to add to any Star Wars collection. It's a computer animated film. Fun to watch. Recommended to fans of Star Wars and anyone who likes sci-fi animated movies. If you own the series, it's a must have.

    A great piece to add for any Star Wars collection!

    I bought this product, because I am a fan of the show on tv. I wanted to see how this movie lead into the tv series that is currently on Cartoon Network. I thought the movie was really good, for example on how they introduce Ahsoka into the mix. The storyline was great, and the only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that there is a few times when the movie feels kinda slow or drawn out a little too much. Other then that I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to any Clone Wars fan out there!
