Little Dynamite
This little camera is perfect in size and weight. It came with the belt pouch, and I have it with me all the time, something I'd never been able to do in the past. Although it could use more setting features, it is an awesome camera: the pictures turn out great for the Megapixels, and the quickness and reliability make it great....I think anyone looking for a small quick camera with enough features to satisfy even one of the old time photographers would appreciate this camera, as well as the Optio lineup.This little camera is perfect in size and weight. good things come in small packages
Excellent camera! Bought it used on eBay, so I got an excellent price, but it would've been a great value at retail. PROS: * Viewfinder in addition to great LCD screen * Battery charger can charge the camera AND an extra battery at the same time * OPTICAL ZOOM! My previous camera had only digital zoom; what a difference! This camera has both: 3x Optical Zoom + 4x Digital Zoom * Point-and-shoot easy to use, plus advanced features like manual focus, adjusting quality, and a bunch of stuff I don't even understand (I'm looking forward to playing with the features) * Special modes for more shooting close-ups, night photos, even panorama photos * Macro mode and super-macro mode for great closeup photos * SD Card (expandable) so you don't have to use the manufacturer's software to download ... Excellent Point & Shoot- great compactness & images
For what this camera is supposed to be, it is fantastic. There are many other point and shoot cameras out there with higher MP rating or wider zoom ranges, but they all pall in comparison to the primary advantage of this camera- its small size and portability, and it makes great images! I found that the best camera in the world is useless if you don't take it with you! I am an experienced amateur photographer with lots of cameras (Digital Kodak P880, Leica M6, Voigtlander Bessa, Topcon SUperD, Nikon 4004, etc) and enjoy taking pix of the family. I went to Hawaii for a week with my old Minolta 650 and my 28-300 zoom lens- an excellent film camera!! But I found that I only have pix of the first 3 days of that trip because I got tired of lugging the large heavy camera and zoom lens ... For what this camera is supposed to be, it is fantastic. Now I grab my Pentax Optio S5i, slip it in my pocket, and almost forget I have it. I now have ten times the great pictures I would have had, because I don't want to bring a large camera around. And on top of its portability (I do in fact use an altoid tin as the camera case- I lined one with felt and you could sit on it and not damage the camera, plus no one steals an altoid tin)- it takes great pictures! Is is perfect? Nope, the lens is soft in corners wide open (I wish it had manual aperture control), but the images are great. The white balance is usually perfect, and the little flash is amazing in flash fill! I have an 8"x10" frmaed print hanging on my wall taken with this little Pentax, and many many pix of my pretty wife all over the house and at my office. I had this camera (in the altoid tin!) in my tux pocket whent I walked down the isle to get married! There are GREAT shots of my wedding- limosine from church to reception- at the reception- horseback on my honeymoon- that I NEVER would have were it not for the compactness of this take-anywhere camera. The menu options are extensive, the macro mode is great. I cannot tell you how great a camera this is, and is its big brother the S6. I hope it stays as small as it is because if it gets too big to fit in an Altoid tin, then it gets to be just like all the other large P&S shoot cameras out there. While it still takes better images than most, its small size is its forte.

Size Matters, Particularly Underwater
I use this primarily as an underwater diving camera (with housing O-WP2) but find it to be a very competent land camera as well. It's fun that it fits in an Altoid mint can but paired with the Pentax underwater housing and you have a very versatile SCUBA camera that is so small you hardly know you're diving with it until you need it. It shoots video but at a low resolution (320X240). But the zoom does function when in video mode and a Quick mode switch function allows me to toggle to and from video mode with one button push. Here in the Northwest, the macro and super macro modes get most of my time. It has a marine mode designed to restore color but I find that a good light source does the job fine. I let the flash combined with a UK Light Cannon and get great results. Battery life has ... The flash is potent for it's size and I have shocked many people with the quality of my photos (above and below water) I rarely shoot at full 5 megapixel but it's nice to know it's there. If I could change one thing it would be to have higher video resolution. But since this is not a video camera and it's SO TINY, I still give it top rating.

Great all-around camera
We have the S4i at work, so I had the opportunity to try that one out extensively. I found that it takes great pictures, the menus are fairly intuitive, and the small size lets you stuff it in a shirt pocket. Based on my experience at work, I purchased the S5i, as it is nearly identical to the S4i, but with higher resolution. One of the pros is also a con: The small size is a drawback if you are outdoors, in the cold, wearing gloves. I found that I can take pictures with gloves on, but the power button is smaller than the shutter button. This means the gloves are off to turn it on, but the gloves can go back on to take the pics. If this one gets run over, I would buy another one. Pros: Compact, fits in shirt pocket. Uses SD memory. Has 10mb internal memory. Durable (we ride atv's ... We have the S4i at work, so I had the opportunity to try that one out extensively.
