Eating Out - DVD
For fans of out of work ex-American Idol singers or those just looking for an hour and a half of fun then "Eating Out" might be the thing for you. The plot is simple boy wants girl but gay friend says it's easiest to get girl if you are gay so boy plays gay to get her and then fumbles through the muddle. Not exactly "Citizen Kane" but then you weren't expecting that anyway. Jim Verraros (American Idol) makes and is a cute gay boy and Scott Lunsford makes a very hott fake-gay. Ryan Carnes (Desperate Housewives) makes the whole thing worth it as a fixed-up gay date for our hunky straight-gay dude. The film's not very cerebral but it has it share of lookers and laughs and is worth the time. It proves there is life for gays after "American Idol" . ... Set in the Arizona Sonoran desert, Caleb (Scott Lunsford), is a hunky straight college student who has just been dumped by his slutty girlfriend. Caleb then meets Gwen (Emily Stiles) and falls head over heels for her, the only problem is that Gwen is only attracted to gay men. In an attempt to help Caleb with his plight Kyle (Jim Verraros, American Idol ), Caleb s gay roommate, hatches up a plan to get Caleb closer to Gwen and in turn he can also get closer to Marc (Ryan Carnes, Desperate Housewives ), Gwen's gay roommate. Cute Movie (sorry if I spoil it :-p )
This is a cute movie along the lines of trying to get noticed by the hot, popular boy, when in turn the hot popular boy wants the not so popular boy. The storyline is kind of dull, and completely unrealistic of a straight, hunky man wanting to "be" gay just to get the girl. That part of the movie was a little farfetched, in my opinion, but necessary for the storyline. The actors were chosen well because of their looks, but not for their acting(if you saw/see the movie you'll notice what I am talking about in some scenes). Eating out can eat my shorts!
Well here we go again all you folks in homoland, another picture of heteros playing homos. I was so disappointed with this. I get tired of a movie that leads people on, it's not even real and these plots are getting so typical and boring. More a "straight" movie than a "gay" movie and I get so tired of people believing that all gay women and men are so shallow and brainless that sex is the only thing that keeps us motivated. I think not. There are some of us out here that have our heads together, lead decent lives and fit in so well that you would never know we were "queer". So many of these movies seem to lead immediately to the hetero lifestyle while once again, the "mos" get left behind. Granted I too would for once like to see a movie where ... It isn't a movie just previews for Eating Out coming soon. I try to get them to give me information on where to return DVD but no answer. C&C copied this DVD and in a blockbaster cover.
